Bridgeport Art Center

Q1_4_X09_1.jpgThis is the weekend of the Bridgeport Art Walk, and a great place to start is at the Bridgeport Art Center, where you will find all sorts of good stuff. I don't spend a lot of time looking at a whole lot of quantity at an art walk, but I did get a chance to spend some time with Fred Camper's photo collages. He combines photos taken from different perspectives, which sometimes works out beautifully. Other times it looks like a real estate ad, which is a pretty huge comment in itself.

654B086A-Maple_Coil_Wood_Bracelet.jpgAfter wandering the floors of the Bridgeport Art Center for a while, I wound my way to the basement where the artists who own power tools reside. This is where I met Gustav Reyes. Gustav attended the Art Institute years ago, and after getting over that hurdle he found a passion in bending wood. By making a living constructing rings made of reclaimed and exotic found woods, he is able to make bent wood sculptures. What amazed me about his work was that he bends all of his wood by hand and at room temperature.

Overall, I had a great time at the Bridgeport Art Center. If you are heading down to the Bridgeport art walk you should make it to the basement of the BAC. It might not be as active, but if you wind your way to the back you will be surprised at what you find.

You should really have an editor look at your writing. It is "wandering" not wondering. You have about eight comma errors in this article and a few run on sentences. Sorry, I couldn't help but comment as I can't email you directly.

Thanks for the heads up, Gina. I must have overlooked the extended section of this post. Edits have been made. Cheers. --Kelly (A/C Editor)
