Uncle Freddy's comes to Co Prosperity Sphere
This Friday from 6pm to 9pm the Co Prosperity sphere is opening a new show in conjunction with the old Uncle Freddy's Gallery of Northwest Indiana. Uncle Freddy's was a space where artists who didn't fit the mold of the traditional gallery scene would be able to show their most heartfelt and intense work.
Thomas Hagen spent his life on trains, living and working out of Northwest Indiana. He retired from the railroad industry and then took up painting. Hagen has a knack for painting what he knows and not conforming to too many rules. His paintings are rich with meaning and always honest, which gives them a special quality.
Em'rynn Artunian is an observer and a lover of nature. If I could have anyone with me during and after the apocalypse, it would be this man. His art has spanned lots of mediums but at the core of his work is observation and meditation. Instinct guides his process and what comes of it is always beautiful and balanced.
Billy Pozo, founder of Artists Inc., is a sculptor. He revels in environments-- from dioramas to life size habitats. The environments that Pozo's figures, sculpted or painted, exist in are pulled from the nightmares of a 9 year old boy; they allow they viewer to step into a place where nothing is hidden under the surface, where ugly is just that and it's all around us.
