Rickey Smiley: The Laugh & Shout Experience
Through television, feature films such as First Sunday and Friday After Next and his nationally-syndicated radio show (heard weekday mornings on Chicago's "Power 92"), Rickey Smiley regularly brings on the laughs; this week, the multi-talented comedian is bringing his talents--and the laughs--to Chicago via an entirely different "experience."
The "Laugh & Shout Experience," starring gospel group Joe Willie and The Deuteronomaires, combines Smiley's knack for playing different characters and his love for comedic skits, gospel music, storytelling and improv, all in one variety show. In addition to Joe Willie and The Deuteronomaires, the show will also feature guest appearances by Smiley's beloved 'church lady' "Mrs. Bernice Jenkins," who will deliver the church announcements, as well as performances by noted gospel recording artists Earnest Pugh and Zacardi Cortez.
Catch "The Laugh & Shout Experience" for one night only, Friday, May 18, at Christ Universal Temple (CUT), 11901 S. Ashland, at 8pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Mac's Records, 5425 W. Madison, 773-261-1886 or at CUT, 773-568-2282. For group rates and other information, visit the website.
