"The Jill And Julia Show" Launches Summer Tour

Before grabbing a Heineken and a slab of ribs to celebrate the Fourth of July (or if you're like me, an avocado wrap with barbecue sauce), grab a glass of wine and a ticket to "The Jill and Julia Show" at the City Winery Wednesday, July 3. You will find in this funny informal show about love, family and the conundrums of life, witty monologues by Julia Sweeney coupled with equally as witty tunes by Jill Sobule.
Remember the '90s song "Supermodel?" The song may remind you of the movie Clueless. Needless to say, Sobule's music is not only catchy, it is also thought-provoking. The same can be said for the comedic one-woman shows of Sweeney, well known for her androgynous "Saturday Night Live" character, Pat. Sweeney is also an actress and monologist (God Said, Ha!, Letting Go of God), and is the author of If It's Not One Thing, It's Your Mother. Together, Sobule and Sweeney, with their socially conscious and self aware material delivered in subtle melodious ways, have created a show full of banter and brains.
Catch the funny duo at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph, at 8pm. Tickets are $22-$30; for more information, call 312-733-WINE (9463) or visit City Winery.
