Celebrate Pride at the Froot Salad Party at Annoyance Theatre

Chicago's 46th annual Pride Fest came fast around the corner this year with a two-day festival celebrating love, capped by Sunday's parade. In addition to the glitz and glamour of the day, a party entitled Froot Salad will occur Sunday at the Annoyance Theatre and Bar.

The space will include three rooms, two blackout rave areas, a full bar, food, and open windows to witness the parade in full action. Froot Salad will be filled with performances, visual arts, live DJs, and support from the local creative community. Curation is provided by Do312, The Lesbifriends Cartel, Cramer PR & Events, Stardust, VAM, Deep Eddy Vodka, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Riot Fest.

Once you're finished dancing in the street, musical acts Swaguerrilla, DJ All The Way Kay, TEEN WITCH FAN CLUB, Claudia De Châlon, Unicorn Florida, Ldy Prblms and DJ Zel will be guiding your moves inside the Annoyance Theatre and Bar.

In addition to music, drag and burlesque performances by Nico, Joan Waters, The Vixen, Ms.Mr.Jr will be wooing the crowd throughout the night. Curated by Jo Cøntrol and VAM, the event is also an exhibition of art installations that feature performance, sculpture, video, neon, and large scale works crafted by artists Luis Mejico, Bob Landers, Blake Herbert, Rafael Silvares (MIA 'Boyz') and Ben Marcus (Pluto / Total Therapy).

Vincent Martell of VAM says, "Our aim is to really bring art back into the event scene in Chicago," which will include large scale art works that create an "out of this world vibe for Pride."

Froot Salad is hosted by a slew of wonderful platforms, which include Young Girl Party, Claire Van Eijk, Jimmy Hassett Da Virtual Brat, Dom Brown, Bon Bon, Jazzeppi Zanaughtti, Bambi, Imp Queen, Jpeg Papi, Ben Morino, Daniella DeLuna,Lucy Stoole, Lauren Widor, Vincent Martell, Jordan Phelps, Lauren-Elizabeth Black, Nina Dollhouse, Jenae Williams & Scott Cramer. The event is supported by LVL3 and Bullett Magazine.

Froot Salad begins at 3pm Sunday at 851 W. Belmont Ave. Admission is $7 with an RSVP or $10 without. The event ends whenever the guests stop dancing/drinking/singing.

Hi! Thank you so much for posting about this event; so happy to be working with all of these artists! Would you be able to please change my link to behance.com/LuisMejico ? Right now it just links to my regular FB Page and I think that may be the case for a few of the other artists!

Nicole Lane / June 28, 2015 8:39 PM

Thanks Luis! It's fixed!
