Foie Gras Dog Back on the Menu ...in the 'Burbs?
The Food Chain informs that Hot Doug's copycat fRedhots & Fries up in Glenview is now serving a "Legal in the Suburbs Duck and Foie Gras Sausage," trying to capitalize on Doug Sohn's recent bust.
Mike Sula wonders if Hot Doug's can survive an exodus to the suburbs due to his current vacation and the loss of the foie dog, but I really can't imagine that's going to happen. The foie gras is a nice novelty item, a way to stick it to the city, but it's hardly Hot Doug's life blood. Not to mention, driving to Glenview for a hot dog, no matter how decadent (and at $8.50, rather expensive), is pretty unlikely for the average city eater.

I finally got around to going here. It was good, but not exceptional. The fries were a bit limp. The dipping sauce was very tasty.
It felt like Hot Doug's is going out on a limb a bit more. The choices were a bit more challenging. It was good though, I'd go again and it's not a nightmare to park at like Hot Doug's.
