Green City Summer BBQ Fest
Calling all BBQ aficionados! Next Thursday from 6 to 8 pm, head to the Green City Market Chefs’ Summer BBQ Festival for victuals grilled by 50 of Chicago’s top chefs is set for 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday, July 12 in Lincoln Park. Even back when this was a reasonable $25, my experience with it wasn't that great. You'd really need to show up right at the opening to get any food, so folks with jobs in other parts of the city (like me) generally got table scraps. (Meant metaphorically, but qualitatively not inaccurate.) And frankly, unless there were just too many of us working stiffs cluttering up the glitterati's night out, I'm baffled by the $50 they've charged the last couple of years. If the Green City Market is struggling so severely that $50 is justified, something's wrong.
