Half Acre Gets Tanked
Half Acre Beer received the new tanks and other brewing equipment at its new brewery at 4257 N. Lincoln Ave. in North Center this morning.
The equipment was purchased from Ska Brewing Company in Durango, Colorado, and shipped here on four trailer trucks. The fermenters looked a bit like space capsules on the flatbed when I arrived at the brewery to watch the unload for a little while.
Half Acre began the move into the new space just last week, right before flying off to Colorado to arrange the equipment shipment. It remains a very raw space, with plenty to do before local production can begin -- not least of which being procurement of the final approvals from the city. President Gabriel Magliaro took me for a walk through the brewery, sketching out where the equipment would go and plans for a retail store in the front where customers will be able to buy limited-run beers as well as frozen pizzas made by the company. Frozen pizza from a beer company!? More on that later.
