It's My Party

Last night, I did something that proves that I've lost all sense of adventure and surprise: I bought my own birthday cake--a beautiful one from Sweet Mandy B's, with seashell-shaped frosting around the border. Oooh. So pretty.

All I need is a glass of skim milk and I'll be good to go.

This brought up a question--what the are BEST birthday cakes? Homemade? Bakery made? A package of Dunkin' Stix ate with a cup of coffee?

Please discuss.

I got a great red velvet birthday cake from Twisted Sister Bakery in Old Town. I needed to pick it up a few days before the party, and it was just as moist as could be even after hanging out in the fridge for a while. http://www.thetwistedbaker.com/

Cake, it's what's for breakfast. (I wish.) Happy Birthday, Robyn.

I like Dinkel's for the quintessential American birthday cake--the kind you probably wanted as a kid, with lots of sprinkles and fluffy icing.

I like Fox and Obel's bakery department quite a bit, and have ordered wonderful sheet cakes from them for big parties.

And BomBon does beautiful cakes with yummy flavors.

Good grief, linkage all wonky. But I'm sure you can figure out what goes where. More coffee, please.

[Fixed Keri's link wonkiness.]

If you've got the budget ($$$), a Cakegirls cake tastes divine--and they're fun.

I'm also a fan of House of Fine Chocolates.

Costco has great sheet cakes on a budget but nothing beats Sweet Mandy B's.

The chocolate banana cake at Bittersweet is the best birthday cake ever!

Thanksgiving Breakfast

By Shanna Quinn

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I'm sure you're making a list and checking the refrigerator twice before heading out to the grocery store in preparation for your turkey dinner. But before you run out the door, check and...
