Crafty Menu Crafters
This might be the month that restaurateurs will come to hate.
The New York Times explains what made you order the Nonna's spinach lasagna, instead of the spaghetti bolognese. Chances are, the menu had been engineered that way. (And if you've ever wondered what those bubbles mean on Alinea's menu, the answer is on the third page.)
Coincidentally, New York magazine also has a visual dissection of a French menu with all the tricks revealed. Knowing these tricks probably won't change the way I pick what I order (although I did realize that I fall for some), but it'll certainly add entertainment to our future restaurant visits.
