Chicago Chefs Did OK at the James Beard Foundation Awards, Too
Chicago brought home two more medals in the culinary portion of the 2010 James Beard Foundation Awards -- well, three when you also include the already-established American Classics award for Calumet Fisheries.
Koren Grieveson of Avec won Best Chef in the Great Lakes Region -- which was slightly stacked in Chicago's favor, with Michael Carlson of Schwa, Arun Sampanthavivat of Arun's and Bruce Sherman of North Pond receiving three of the four other nominations.
Fresh from its rise to seventh on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, Alinea won for Outstanding Service.
