Chik-fil-A Opening Draws Chicagoland's Bored and Unemployed to Wheaton
Like moths to a chicken flame, residents from all over the Chicagoland area descended upon Wheaton yesterday with sleeping bags in tote. For the third time in as many months, Chik-fil-A opened the doors to yet another location today, and that can only mean one thing: tent city.
From Chicago Breaking Business:
Some said they had been there since 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, taking advantage of the near record early November temperatures, in an effort to be one of the first hundred customers and receive a free weekly meal for a year.
One woman in attendance said she had "probably eaten about 500 chicken sandwiches since the chain first opened in Atlanta 20 years ago." (That works out approximately 215,000 calories.) Another man claimed to have hundreds of free certificates, following the store openings as they criss-cross the country.
Plans are laid for an additional thirty-some locations in and around Chicago. [CBC]

Love the headline's irony. As bored as the reporter thought those customers were, he was unable to find a more interesting story.
