Eggplant, Radish, or Swiss Chard?

One-Seed-Chicago-Vegetable-Seeds-2011.png

In 2008 it was the sunflower, in 2009 the Blue Lake Pole bean and in 2010 the beebalm, so what will the winner of 2011 be? One Seed Chicago has opened voting for their annual seed contest. Here's how it works: you vote eggplant, radish or swiss chard as your "seed of 2011" and One Seed Chicago will send you a packet of the city's chosen seed for free! Plant it in your garden or your neighborhood community garden to demonstrate unity in our city's greening and beautification through gardening.

One Seed Chicago is an urban greening project of NeighborSpace, Chicago's land trust for community gardens. For more information, please visit www.neighbor-space.org.

Thanks for writing about this Joanna, we appreciate it.

One Seed Chicago will be doing some really cool things this year. We have some Chicago chefs who are sharing recipes for the candidates. We're going to show participants how to go from seed to table and how easy it is to make a healthy meal with the candidates.

I hope you of your readers join us in greening Chicago and learning how to prepare healthy meals.
