Bombay Spice Grill & Wine Opens in River North
Bombay Spice Grill & Wine has opened in at 111 W. Illinois St. Chicago's River North district. Like the popular Phoenix location, this new outpost will serve healthy and authentic Indian cuisine.
This Indian inspired enclave is the brainchild of JNK Concepts and Chef Sunil Kumar. The flavor profiles one can enjoy here are inspired by traditional, wholesome recipes from Indian homes, but made a bit more heart healthy through the use of olive oil instead of ghee.
First timers at this vegetarian and vegan-friendly establishment might start with Chickpea Ceviche (chickpeas tossed with onions, cucumber and tomatoes and finished with a sweet tamarind and yogurt sauce). Or, for a quick snack, try their tender lamb chop appetizer (pictured above). It's a marinated and flame grilled chop in a seven-spice blend.
But if you're not familiar with Indian dishes and are uneasy about what to choose for your entrée, you can build it yourself with authentic Indian ingredients. Choose a base such as Quinqua, Basmati rice or noodles and then add your vegetable or protein. Top your original dish off with one of their sauces, Curry, Masala, Korma, Spinach or Vindaloo (hot).
