Chicago's ineptitude.
Watching all the bureaucratic infighting as needs grow faster than the pie is growing.
Alcohol.
Random whimsy and wandering the streets looking for interesting things...
MY BRAIN! Endless.
Any and everything.
the fact that the cubs are out of the playoffs
I second pantagrapher with the alcohol, but I also want to add CTATattler.com, Illinois State Legislature, Mayor Daley, and my dog, Jackson.
Unfortunately, only Jackson and the sweet, sweet alcohol put a blissful smile on my face. Everything else is that awkward-making amusement of slapstick comedy and idiots.
My cat Fluffy.
Smiling at people and seeing them smile back. Bill Hicks bootlegs. My own imagination. Gin & tonic.
The prospect of wrongs righted, justice restored, and violent reconnoitering for those who might stand in the way of my ax.
3 weeks in Argentina starting Wednesday.
an eerie but inspiring string of run-ins with old friends and lovers
Telling really bad jokes that tend to only crack me up.
Finding Deedles in her secret hiding spot in the closet and whispering to her "hey, come to bed. you're the cat, it's your job" and her arriving in bed 1 minute later.
Monster Squad-- watched it yesterday for the first time in 15+ years. It's pretty funny. Dracula has an awesome car.
Thinking to myself twice this weekend that I could be a lotto winner and not know it yet. Then I started plotting what to do with my winnings. Then I laughed at myself.
foibles
My tiny neighbors. Endless hilarity, all for free!
a new crush
flight of the conchords live concert clips on utube
Brain Age on my Nintendo DS.
The commercial for Unicare where the kid gets the blinds stuck on his face or teeth, then the fire dept. comes, can't get it off and the kid gets carted away in an ambulance with blinds attached to his face. I'm not entirely sure if it's supposed to be as funny as it is to me.
Mr M - our new thing is going out for walks. I hold him in my arms and he just looks around and sniffs. He requests this usually 3 times a week. Also amusing is the recent discussion of what he should be for halloween. If I put a little black bowtie around his neck, he could be a butler.
He'd rather be a panther. He is a hunter by nature, after all.
and
new meds
unfortunately, this is a tough one to answer. I'd say my boyfriend, but I won't see him for another three weeks. runners-up: green tea, ridiculous undergraduates, listening to npr podcasts while running.
lame, perhaps. grad school lifestyle, most definitely.
The Monty Python skits that I just discovered were on YouTube by the gadzillions.
What's that on the telly?
Looks like a penguin.
Must've come from next door.
Penguins don't come from next door, they come from the Antarctic.
Oh, CTA, you amuse me...
as I stare at your informative posters
(So clever and frugal to use "band-aid" stickers to change the date of the CTA meltdown!)
as I am crushed in an unairconditioned, overstuffed train,
waiting for signal clearance.
the cosmic joke we call life.
seriously.
everyone needs to lighten up a bit and enjoy things a lot more, even when things are "bad".
...the whole Chicago Marathon kerfuffle (sp?). Sorry a guy died, but if you run in the heat, expect some problems and take your safety into your OWN hands, not some guy handing out cups of water. Amusing in a I-can't-believe-they-didn't-quit-on-their-own sort of way.
...the way the woman from Africa zoomed past the oblivious woman from Romania who was waving to the crowd. Classic. Is that on YouTube yet?
...the Cubs, natch.
...the look on faces of the fans of Green Bay after the game.
...the Chicago kid who won at the World Cyber Games. OK, actually, the fact that there is a World Cyber Games.
...the small follies of my own life.
I hesitate to share my secret with all you boners, but here it is...
I don't know who this broad is, but she has made me laugh harder than anyone in 2007. She is so wrong, and it is just so right:
yeah billy, i think you're right.
you know, im going to regret saying this, but halo has been pretty sweet.
my new bike. and knowing i'm getting hitched in 3 months in beautiful Jamaica and it will be cold here. and my $30 wedding dress.
That "move to the suburbs" article in Details. So, because the city is looking slightly more like the suburbs, we should move to where it's worse? Right.
This sticker on the CTA. Totally awesome.
Nothing beats a good BM.
Cubs fans when they realized that no, this still isn't your year.
Packers fans after the game.
My friends. They're awesome.
