...because I want it back.

We opened up the windows and got some fresh air into the house, and did a little spring cleaning. Should've taken a walk, but we had too much work to do.

Ruthie / March 7, 2005 10:26 AM

I walked around outside and had a picnic by the lake with friends. I may have gotten a tiny bit of a sunburn on my face, too. Hurray!

Ron / March 7, 2005 10:34 AM

Kane County Flea Market

j3s / March 7, 2005 10:38 AM

The usual Sunday brunch with the usual crew, and then over to Palmer Square to sit in the sun and watch friends play frisbee (I have a fear of projectiles).

Tim / March 7, 2005 10:49 AM

Walked to the pebble beach around 49th Street and found some excellent beach glass. Great city view, beautiful day.

Naz / March 7, 2005 11:00 AM

Walked around, took photos. Went riding around on bikes after that and past by the southside and way west and stopped by Greektown for some refreshments. Went to a show afterwards and ended the night riding home half an hour past midnight, as a few rain drops fell. When I walked into my apartment later I realized that Spring isn't too far away and there'll be more good times ahead.

monkey / March 7, 2005 11:09 AM

Girlfriend made excellent brunch for friends and family. Cats sat all day at the open windows, enjoyed the cool breeze. Many miles along northside streets and lakefront traversed on bike. Stopped for pizza and beer at Pequods. Rode home in the chilly air, belly full of beer and carmalized crust. More to come!

Dawson / March 7, 2005 11:12 AM

Wandered all over Wicker Park, B-Town and East Village looking for apartments. I swear I walked about 8,000 miles.

Emerson Dameron / March 7, 2005 11:18 AM

Woke up to the sound of an ice cream truck. Walked all over the neighborhood and sat on the front stoop for half an hour after dark. Got excited about spring again, after dismissing it from my thoughts for those last few months.

Carlos / March 7, 2005 11:32 AM

Stranded on Congress Parkway and having to push my friends truck out of the way of high speeding traffic....FUN!!!!!!

Alice / March 7, 2005 11:58 AM

Glad I'm not the only one -- I was stranded in my car yesterday for several minutes on Touhy Avenue, near Milwaukee Avenue. Fun times, indeed. Stupid vapor lock.

jdionesotes / March 7, 2005 12:18 PM

Developed film. In the dark. Oy.

miss ellen / March 7, 2005 12:24 PM

ugh, depressing thread.

woke up, watched my friggin' #1 team LOSE against Ohio State. ugh, bad start.

then, worked all day (at least at home, not at the office). but, i did open the windows & blinds for some sun.

finally made it out for some dinner; then, came home & watched arrested development. i swear, if FOX cancels that show, they have absolutely no clue.

Leelah / March 7, 2005 12:34 PM

Flew back from icy cold Boston and accidentally took an Ambien instead of my medicine... and promptly slept the day away. I'm an idiot.

Benjy / March 7, 2005 1:03 PM

Unfortunately, I didn't get enough chance to enjoy it because I was out suit shopping. Only got to enjoy it between the parking lot and stores. Although, I did open up the sunroof for the first time since probably October.

Eamon / March 7, 2005 1:04 PM

Played football from 10 'til 1:30 and spent the rest of the day recovering. I'm clearly getting too old for this crap.

Not to be a downer or anything, but keep in mind that there's always one beautiful weekend in March, and then one seriously nasty cold snap before Spring really starts. Don't go packing away those sweaters quite yet!

miss ellen / March 7, 2005 1:14 PM

we already decided that next sunday will probably be nasty, as yesterday would've been perfect weather for the south side parade.

sure enough, we hopped on weather.com & they're predicting snow! murphy's law, i guess....

Kelly / March 7, 2005 1:20 PM

My boyfriend and I took a nice walk in the forest preserve near our home.

DCE / March 7, 2005 1:49 PM

I went on a very pleasant photo-safari with an old Agfa box camera.

Leah / March 7, 2005 2:09 PM

I sold ice cream at my shop to hordes of ice cream hungry families. I also got my first ice cream bruise of the season on my scooping arm.

After work, I went home and opened the back door to get the winter air out of the apartment and then sat on my front stoop on the phone and watched people walk by.

Mike / March 7, 2005 2:14 PM

Woke up around 10am, made a kick-ass mixed tape for a friend while drinking coffee. Then I got in the car and test-listened to the whole thing through while taking the extremely long way to the grocery store with the windows down.
After that, I sat on the back porch.

steven / March 7, 2005 2:44 PM

Opened the windows to catch that great 3rd floor breeze. Did 5 loads of laundry, cleaned out my car. Took a walk with the lovely mrs. and had lunch and margaritas at cesar's. I intended to take some b&w's with my Lomo while walking, but alas, it was lunch time and it ate the film. Oh well. Still a beautiful day.

steven / March 7, 2005 2:45 PM

btw, this is one of the more interesting questions i've read...fun to see how everyone enjoyed the gift from mother nature.

Ari / March 7, 2005 2:53 PM

I woke up early and got stoned on my porch before taking a lovely 17-mile bike ride. Upon my return, I ate a delicious sandwich on my porch and finished a book I've been reading, then went to check out that dead body thing at the MSI. Then I walked around the U of C campus for a bit and returned to my house where I paid copious bills and fell asleep on my couch watching True Stories. Good day all around.

Steve / March 7, 2005 2:54 PM

Where did the day go?

Woke up 930 and got paper off porch -- thought it already felt a bit warm, but thermometer said 40. Offered to make breakie for the gal; she said she wasn't feeling good and was gonna sleep in more so I made breakfast for one, complete with requisite Black Cat Blend. Watched that crummy Denzel Washington vigilante movie on the TiVo, then finally realized how nice it was outside and went for a nice long walk around North Center and Roscoe Village with the gal -- topped off with a little Trader Joe's. After that, Fox comedies and some TiVoed Deadwood....

Christopher / March 7, 2005 3:15 PM

Walked around Humboldt park with my girlfriend and our NEW PUPPY!

Kelly / March 7, 2005 3:36 PM

I came down with the flu. It was great.

eep / March 7, 2005 3:53 PM

Got up early, drove downtown to meet with a friend, went to a movie but got there early so we grabbed lunch, people/dog/car watched, saw the movie, drove friend home, drove to meet up with a date with the windows rolled down, had the date, went to a friend's to drop a CD off, then went home where I promptly met up with more friends for drinks. It was a good day.

salty / March 7, 2005 4:11 PM

I mostly rode the el and walked, and walked, and was outside all day. In that time I got a haircut, went to the south loop Target, stopped in the Architecture Foundation for a gift, ate a toasted sammich and got some groceries. Basically, a Red Line/Brown Line day. With a little Orange Line thrown in for fun.

Overwrought Mind / March 7, 2005 4:14 PM

Walked to Diversey Yacht Club and sat on the ledge. Walked towards Fullerton and sat at "our spot". Looked out at the lake and compared it to the ocean. Wore only a blue hoodie; lighter than the fall coat I wore the last time we went to the lake back in October. Got excited about warm weather and all of the possibilites.

mar-mar / March 7, 2005 4:15 PM

funny you should ask.
i read Frankenstein, walked the cat (with the pink harness and black leash), helped boyfriend with his physical therapy, picked up some trash on my corner, ate the food cooked by boyfriend's stepmom. all of this was before the toilet overflowed. after the toilet overflowed, or ATO, i mopped with towels, mopped with paper towels, mopped with mop, apologized to the downstairs neighbors, accidentally let the cat out, caught the cat, washed the towels.

Maureen / March 7, 2005 4:21 PM

Cursed the administration for putting the end of the quarter just when it starts to get nice outside, then read antique volumes of "The Lancet" for five hours.

Veronica / March 7, 2005 6:58 PM

Well, I had to work, but I took off my jacket on the way home! Then I considered setting up some chairs on our balcony so I could work on my computer out there, but I ended up sitting on the couch anyway. The intent was there.

Brandy / March 7, 2005 8:06 PM

I was on a bus riding back from Madison... :^( But enjoyed the warmish weather there and basked in the Chicago warmth walking from Union Station and the Red Line last night.

If we all concentrate hard enough on our memories can we bring it back, Andrew?

Kendra / March 7, 2005 11:28 PM

I'm a grad student, so I don't spend that much time outdoors. But I did notice on the way to the library that there were people playing frisbee-- frisbee!-- on the brown grass in one of the quads, and then on the way back from the library I had to carry my coat.

Peter Zelchenko / March 8, 2005 9:16 AM

We rode the Red Line to 79th Street, ate lunch at Soul Vegetarian East, and then walked the 11 miles downtown.
