Dawes: "North Hills"
Best album: Mika's The Boy Who Knew Too Much.
Them Crooked Vultures
Well, I just heard Nina Simone's Sinnerman unedited for the first time two weeks ago! So cleary this is the best song
in 2009 or as you people annoyingly say "hands down"
Off the top of my head-- Best Song: Kid Cudi "Pursuit of Happiness" and Best Album: The Dirty Projectors "Bitte Orca"
Spook, I think you're the only person confused as to whether we mean songs released in the year 2009 or "ever." But to be clear, we're talking about the former.
PS: Who's "you people"?
Best album is Double Dagger "More"
Best song is a tough call, but the best one off that album is "Vivre San Temps Morts."
Ohhhh NO Andrew, I think You need to reread the question. The question states, "best song of 2009" and since I heard it for the first time in 2009 it meets the definition in full.
When I said you people, I mean you people.
You gotta problem with that????
Bon Iver's Blood Bank
The best album of '09 I will cast my vote for "Silversun Pickups"' "Swoon"
Something by that Lady GaGa person. She was pretty popular this year or something, right? Yeah, put me down for that.
Best album was "Before The Frost...Until The Freeze" by the Black Crowes.
I ditto printdude on the Heavy tune, and I just heard it a week ago. It's got balls!
Urban Ethos [26]
What is Chicago's "urban ethos"?
Cool Glass of... [16]
What're you drinking?
Supreme Decision [22]
What's your reaction to the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act?
Taking it to the Streets [20]
Chicago Street Fairs: Revolting or Awesome?
I Can Be Cruel [9]
Be real: what is the meanest thing you've ever done?

Right now, I'm thinking that it is
"The Heavy"'s "How you like me now?"
