John / November 16, 2009 9:21 AM

Tour Glessner House and do the Perimeter Ride.

CC / November 16, 2009 10:01 AM

Still need to ride the holiday train---this year is the year, I swear it!

me / November 16, 2009 10:25 AM

two chicks at the same time man. (a. devlantes & j. bang)

LaShawn Williams / November 16, 2009 11:15 AM

I need to muster up the courage to go on that see-through/glass thingie on the Sears...whoops--WILLIS Tower Skydeck...

Benjy / November 16, 2009 11:54 AM

- Dinner at Alinea
- Attend a White Sox world series game in person
- Own a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, preferable the Willits House or Heurtley House

annie / November 16, 2009 4:26 PM

I would love to be in the position to buy an old apartment building and rehab it, keeping the original details and then rent it out to friends or other like-minded people so that I, for once, had control of who my neighbors are.
I've done everything else I've ever wanted to do, except for trying a few restaurants which is an easy fix.

Mucky Fingers / November 16, 2009 4:42 PM

I want to visit all the trendy, greasy spoon places like the Billy Goat Tavern and Hot Doug's. I'm sure there are a few other places, but I can't name them.

paul / November 17, 2009 12:35 PM

- South Side St. Patrick's Day Parade.
- Venetian Night.
- a visit to everything Mies van der Rohe and Louis Sullivan built in Chicago
- Charlie Trotter's when Charlie's actually there.
- Bears or Cubs playoff home game.

I've also always wanted to go have a drink in the Tip Top Tap.

CVAL / November 17, 2009 12:50 PM

Take on a hugely powerful opponent and resolve matters for those most in need.

Paul / November 17, 2009 1:14 PM

Paul, are you kidding about the SSIP and Venetian Night? They are done, my friend. (SSIP, thanks in large part to me!)

The Tip Top Tap is a pass too by the way.

Tracie / November 17, 2009 1:28 PM

Dinner at cafe des architectes and L20
Canoe up the Chicago River
Take a boat ride to the other side of Lake Michigan (all the way up to the UP)

irisheyes1212 / November 17, 2009 9:36 PM

Eat at charlie trotter's, arun, kendall college dining room, the gage (and not hold back). And like Mucky Fingers, check out the trendy greasy spoon hot spots including hot dougs, kuma's corner, etc

Be on an episode of Check Please! for that matter. I'd pick Frontera Grill

take a full years worth of World Kitchen cooking classes

See the lights for Xmas downtown / tree lighting, I just never do.

Stay at the Drake or Peninsula (or both) while doing all the stuff involving downtown

Watch a Cubs playoff game - from the dugout.

Live in a cool loft type apt. I like brick and pipes.

Run through FAO Schwartz and touch, not just look.

Win lotto to do all of the above plus :)

Alissa / November 17, 2009 10:01 PM

Get Oprah tickets. Almost as realistic as winning the lotto, right?

Oprah Spokeswoman: / November 17, 2009 11:41 PM

Alissa, only unrealistic if you want to shut down an entire main hub of a city. Just normal tix are as easy as to a Steve Wilcos show

PMan / November 17, 2009 11:56 PM

Mine could get pretty long, but a few are:

1. Eat at restaurants of different ethnicities (chinese, german, mexican, indian, italian, thai, etc.) until you find a good one of each.

2. Paddling on the Chicago river

3. The Blues Festival

joshua / November 18, 2009 12:31 PM

paul,
the tip top tap has been closed since the 60's. the sign is a historical landmark and so will never be taken down. quite the bummer.
regarding Mies van der Rohe, don't miss IIT's crown hall.

Rich / November 18, 2009 12:47 PM

Order carpet from Empire Carpet....y'know "588-2300 Empire!".

When they deliver the carpet, dress up like the icon on the commercial...bushy 'stache, glasses, blue work shirt etc etc.

Guy Smiley / November 18, 2009 2:31 PM

throw out a first pitch at Game 1 of the next Sox World series opener.

get into kuma's in under 20 minutes and find the place only slightly crowded so I can spend my time there not thinking about the long wait and actually enjoying the burger and having a decent amount of elbow room for a 6-3, 220 pound guy.

Be one of the people answering the phones in the background during a WTTW pledge drive(yes I know this is probably attainable)

Kelly Reaves / November 18, 2009 4:42 PM

Ride my bike to the Botanic Gardens & eat some Ethiopian food in Edgewater.

sigh ... / November 18, 2009 5:36 PM

paul was being sarcastic.

paul / November 19, 2009 10:11 AM

Yea, thanks sigh.

I figure a bucket list should include things aren't going to happen as a defense against mortality.

Although those were things I really did want to do.

Clark(e) / November 19, 2009 10:39 AM

Fly a plane out of Meigs Fie...dang.
