Oh, come on, they're amazing play these last weeks hasn't swayed you!?
Well, me neither. I don't think they'll make it to the World Series, but they certainly have a much better shot in the playoffs than they did a couple years back when they won a wild-card spot.
Jinx Jinx Jinx! Don't jinx it!
I'll dress up as a goat if I have to, just to get rid of that damn curse!
You're kidding, right?
The Cubs will certainly vanquish their foes and consume their viscera! In the fiery pits of Hades, the ghost of Harry Caray will bowl with the skulls of those who doubt the mighty fury of Our Team!
Or, you know, not.
Alright, let's see this goat costume. We may need a fiery pits of Hades setting though.
That the Cubs are in contention for a playoff spot is more reflective of the quality of the NL Central than anything else. So, I'm going to say that it's a toss-up, but, y'know, I'm hopeful.

Nice little article on why everyone should root for the Cubs.
No. Please, God, No.
CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!
2003 N.L. CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONS!
oh, manuel is so gone. i still can't believe it, the cubbies in the playoffs. it was exciting watching those games yesterday, what an experience for all those fans!
Yes, first time since the days of Ryne Sandberg and Andre Dawson back in the 80's. Way to pull it out. Let's hope they didn't shoot their proverbial load winning the division. Was cool hearing about it in Michigan on NPR tho, I nearly wiped out into a ditch. :)
I would say that judging by the drunken debauchery shown Saturday night within a one mile radius of Wrigley Field ... Yes. Definitely.
My Magic 8 Ball says: IT IS DECIDEDLY SO.
I was quite glad to temporarily relocate for long periods of time to the Wicker Park and downtown areas for this weekend. Being only a block and a half away from Wrigley at a time like this is pretty funny. Oh the things I've heard while sitting in my apartment.
Their chances of making something happen in the playoffs are better than they were in 1998. The Braves have an outstanding lineup, but if Wood and Prior can find a way to trump that, they will be in great shape.
These are the times when I'm glad to be an eternal Cub optimist. Seeing critics and curmudgeonly, Cub-hating Sox fans get bent out of shape warms my heart a little bit.
If that warms your heart, you'll love this: as an eternal, curmudgeonly Cubs-hating Sox fan, the Cubs clinched on my freaking birthday.
And this'll scorch it: I was at a diner on 35th Street when it happened. So sad.
Ah well, it'll be fun watching The Bloodening: Atlanta Eviscerates The Sleepy-Bear Pyjama Boys.
Ha!
I guess it could have been worse for you...your birthday could have fallen on Ron Santo day.
Happy Birthday!
