Donuts in the breakroom!

Gaigen / October 1, 2008 8:58 AM

This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. Old Testament, real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

amyc / October 1, 2008 9:41 AM

I think people will drink a lot and go "Wooooo!"

annie / October 1, 2008 9:43 AM

I think both sides will soon be in tears.

m / October 1, 2008 10:06 AM

I'll just be at home, avoiding the whole thing, but I'll still hear lots of horns honking and people screaming when whoever wins wins. The TV news will trot out the rivalry and everyone will throw the tired stereotypes back and forth. Drunken fan-on-the-street interviews aplenty. Cars will be overturned, a few people will die of assaults and alcohol poisoning. Hundreds of innocent people will be corralled by CPD and spend the night in jail for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bernie's and Jimbo's will both simultaneously spontaneously combust. Chicago will be a national embarrassment. Madrid will get the 2016 Olympics. The parade will be cancelled. Daley will get red, cry, and spout unintelligibles, and raise property taxes as revenge.

m / October 1, 2008 10:07 AM

Actually, I think it'll be fun, and just a little wilder than ususal.

Dr. Ray Stantz / October 1, 2008 10:56 AM

Nice working with your, Dr. Venkman.

Jay / October 1, 2008 12:21 PM

The Sox will have their asses handed to them by the Rays and the Cubs will fold after the next round of playoffs.

The Rays will win the Series.

JasonB / October 1, 2008 9:03 PM

2 dozen sappy, televised marriage proposals in the Wrigley stands... all destined for failure.

PMan / October 1, 2008 11:22 PM

In general, I think it will be a lot of fun.

However, I recently had a chat with a high-ranking law enforcement person who told me of a chat he had with a similarly situated person who said that if both teams make the World Series, "People will die".

If it makes any difference, my message is, have fun, but keep it cool folks.

madachode / October 2, 2008 9:00 AM

Southsiders and "normal" northsiders will march upon N Halsted and burn it to the ground making sure that the "people who think they are different" can never return.

Greg / October 2, 2008 9:14 AM

I think I'll get a lot of reading done. I KNOW! Crazy, isn't it?

Gaigen / October 2, 2008 9:16 AM

PMan: People are getting killed over baseball in this town WITHOUT a world series, so, yes, there will be a couple of stupid deaths. A shooting in a bar, family members stabbing each other when one taunts the other after "their" team loses.

And mada.. wait to paint the entire south side. make it past Madison much?

madachode / October 2, 2008 9:52 AM

Gaygen, go back to schaumburg. Madison was in its glory days when it was riddled with abandoned buildings and hookers.

Gaigen / October 2, 2008 10:16 AM

Madachodeface: Been living in Chicago since we moved here in the '60s my friend... Go home yourself. Peotone is calling.

Spook / October 2, 2008 11:17 AM

a couple years ago, as my ex walked pass cubs field, she had to use her liquid mace on a beer soaked frat boy cubs fan who- after a win- grabbed her in a bear hug and then wouldn't leave her alone until she met his demand to show some "cubs loving". He actually called the police and they arrested him. His friends including several women actually said she was "over reacting".

Yea If the cubs win, I'm taking another vacation even though I can't afford it. Puerto Rico and Mexican Independence Day in Logan Square has gotten tiring to me, But this will be worse.

p.s another example......

FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS

"A LINCOLN PARK man was arrested for attempting to strike Los Angeles Dodgers’ left fielder Manny Ramirez with a baseball during the Cubs Wednesday night playoff loss at Wrigley Field."
