I'm fighting the doldrums with coffee and plenty of visits with friends. I spent too many nights working late last year.

A. Lewellen / January 26, 2010 10:28 AM

Hmmm, how do I put this tactfully, as much Action Between The Sheets (if you know what I mean, wink, wink, nudge, nudge) as I can get. The next best thing is exercise. This is a trick answer though because I always try for as much ABTS as I can get. Honestly though, I don't get the doldrums in winter it suits my introspective nature just fine. That and the fact that less people get shot in the street in winter is a definite perk.

Meems / January 26, 2010 11:07 AM

My boyfriend and I started making cartoons (he draws/I write), we also sing a lot(he's a musician and has a microphone at home). I have a trip to FL coming up this weekend so that'll definitely help. Finally, I find I actually enjoy cooking more in the winter, tonight...grilled cheese and tomato soup!

eee / January 26, 2010 11:10 AM

Wearing lots of bright colors, and fantasizing about a non-existant vacation somewhere warm.

beer. lots of it.

Cheryl / January 26, 2010 1:08 PM

I've succumbed.

annie / January 26, 2010 5:36 PM

Movies at the theater to get my butt out of the house, plus I try to see everything that will likely get nominated for an Oscar. It's probably not the healthiest thing to do, but it helps me. I have been bringing my own healthier snacks in so I don't eat the popcorn. I love the movie popcorn but it leaves me with a crummy tummy every time.

charlie / January 26, 2010 7:39 PM

I'm in Florida

fluffy / January 26, 2010 7:47 PM

movies, booze, and painting/drawing. Lots of sleeping too.

ballpeen / January 26, 2010 9:39 PM

a front yard cookout and art party with friends last night as the crystalline snow flickered around us. sometimes you just gotta embrace it.

Mimi / January 27, 2010 7:16 AM

Vitamin D, daily constitutionals, Manhattans- and white wines to remind me of warm weather.

Sarah-Ji / January 27, 2010 10:57 AM

Browsing my photo archives for overlooked gems and planning a family vacation to New Orleans.

Jasmine / January 27, 2010 2:34 PM

I've taken two vacations already, one at home and one away. I'm going to spend some time planning a spring break trip. Any suggestions?

I think I may follow Annie's lead and see some more movies, especially those that are likely Oscar-worthy.

Spook / January 27, 2010 3:06 PM

Lots of sparkling wine,
lifting weights, kinky sex,
reading/writing at my 2nd hand antique oak roll top desk under a tiffany lamp,
dancing to LOUD music, drinking at strange bars across the city with weirdos, while pretending I’m on a distant frozen dark planet,
and promising that I won't die in this bull sh*t
town.

annie / January 27, 2010 3:54 PM

@ Spook - Bullshit town? What are you still doing here? I'm sure you can leave!

matt / January 27, 2010 7:47 PM

I dream of brighter days...

Spook / January 27, 2010 9:10 PM

Wowie wow woo, Annie!
I think this desert rattler has been provoked without ANY provocation what so "evah"!

What am I doing here? Whelp, that's a story that would be wasted between us two passing ships in the dark cyberness of the night.

But I'd like to think that overall I've done some good.

But right at this moment, I'm speculating as to why you would tread on me? I can't even remember the last cyber feud I've been a party to on Gapers Block? Sorry to digress, that's not what you asked of me. What I'm doing here right now is being really really really pissed off at our President. And while I'm listing to his sugar coated bull sh*t, I'm also guessing
from what you wrote in your comment (the one germane to the TOPIC/Question ), that
your butt is big and flabby and your Oscarish movie taste are parochially midwest. And that you probably go to those oscar parties that I hate. I'm also thinking about how a friend finally dumped a frumpy larger cheap women who brought her own snaks to movies and asked for free water at the counter. And how I've always dated the kind of women who occasionally
sneak beer into movies.

I'm also thinking that even though I don't know you, you must look really gross eating pop corn with "crummy tummy". And finally, I'm thinking that in the future you should let me "do as I do" on Gapers Block and I'll let you "do as you do" because I never like what you write, but I don't comment cause we all need to vent.

annie / January 28, 2010 10:07 AM

OK, Spook..I'll let you write what you write, even though this last post hardly made sense.
BTW, work out everyday, size 6, have a fine ass!

Mucky Fingers / January 28, 2010 10:26 AM

Diet: Various hot sauces for garnish, Coca-Cola
Music: Black Label Society, Audioslave, Pearl Jam
Exercise: Bicycle everywhere when it isn't snowing

Annie,

hummmm, seems to have made sense or you wouldn't have been able to respond,
and
feel free to comment on any thing I write, cause I love to play!

It just seems that Gapers Block has created an over medicated humdrum staid atmosphere.
So, I didn't want to break decorum by calling you frumpy, vapid, cheap and boring with out being clear that you cast the first stone ;-)

Any way enjoy those
Oscars!

Joe / January 28, 2010 11:31 AM

Spook, did your mom take away your xbox or something? Lighten up already...she didn't attack you, she just asked why you're here if you hate the city so much. You do spend a large amount of time bitching about the city, seems like a legitimate question.

vit / January 28, 2010 11:40 AM

Leaving for Mexico.

A. Lewellen / January 28, 2010 1:10 PM

It's very easy to hate a place you also love.

Spook / January 28, 2010 2:19 PM

Joe,

as the great
Afro Haitian/French writer,
Alexandre Dumas’s
D'Artagnan would *probably* say
le gantelet a ete lance, monsieur!
Yes, the gauntlet has been thrown, sir!
I’ve delivered enough insults to know when I've been insulted.
And no, my mom did not "take away my xbox or something".

But it seems that I did disturb your milk toast sand box where most take comfort in saying basically the exact same thing. Which is why I was insulted in the first place and which is why you have now raised up with your comrade annie in arms with plastic sand shovels and pails.

p.s.
A. Lewellen,
not that I care to get into it in this cyber suburban sand box, but I think we are in the same universe. I can tell by what you wrote that you are an artist and I like your art.
Bon monsieur de jour,

Z. Spook

vanessa / January 28, 2010 2:35 PM

Lots of exercise. I just got back from skiing in Colorado. Cold yes, but beautiful. There's something about skiing down a mountain and all you can hear is your heart beating and people around you.

I need to plan another ski vacation soon...

kate / January 28, 2010 4:11 PM

I took the MegaBus to Minneapolis for a weekend. Didn't help.

After drinking heavily through the holidays and a breakup between Thanksgiving & Christmas, I've eased up on the sauce this month and quit smoking. I'm keeping my calendar full and hanging out with friends and dating. I've learned dating isn't so bad. I think it only sucks when you're actively seeking a relationship. Freshly single, that's the least of my concerns.

And Netflix. Lots of Netflix.

Tracie / January 28, 2010 4:45 PM

Going to the art museum for free next month, clearing out my apartment of clothes I never wear and stuff I never use. Learning to use my mandoline without losing a digit.

ian / January 28, 2010 6:01 PM

badminton!

Baldeesh / January 28, 2010 6:30 PM

Going through my stuff and getting rid of crap. Purging files. Making my inside environment more inviting and streamlined and all that.

British television shows. I'm currently watching "Blackadder." It rocks my world.

N / January 28, 2010 10:56 PM

I renewed my library card and I am so busy with school/work I try not to notice. Now it's getting hard not to!

Ramsin / January 29, 2010 11:13 AM
