Absolut and tonic, with a fat wedge of lime. Mmmm...are there any places open yet this morning?

Steve / June 1, 2004 9:41 AM

The Lolita, of course -- gin and pineapple juice over ice. And since my stupid cheap plastic smoothie maker just broke, it's all I'll be able to make this summer.

dawson / June 1, 2004 9:52 AM

Tea from Long Island... iced.

paul / June 1, 2004 9:59 AM

You have to wait until August, but Goose Island brews a DunkelWeizen bock that's worth waiting all year for. Dark, rich, malty, but with delicious vanilla-banana flavors.

Brenda / June 1, 2004 10:08 AM

Mojitos. Nothing says summer like freshly crushed mint leaves over ice.

j3s / June 1, 2004 10:23 AM

Jack and lemonade. Real lemonade, none of that Country Time crap.

Andrew / June 1, 2004 10:24 AM

G&Ts. Barring that, whatever's cold.

dav3 / June 1, 2004 10:44 AM

Mojitos yeah!

Louis / June 1, 2004 10:50 AM

Mmmmm Bell's Oberon.

emily / June 1, 2004 11:18 AM

Bell's Oberon and mojitos. But not at the same time.

heather / June 1, 2004 11:19 AM

I'd have to say sake with sparkling grapefruit soda over ice.

mmm....iced sake...

jennifer / June 1, 2004 11:29 AM

Vodka and lemonade--poured from a big chilled pitcher. Yum.

Naz / June 1, 2004 11:33 AM

Mojitos are good, cold cider is great. I made a drink when I was tending bar at a party years ago when we started running low on stuff, my friend dubbed it the Malaysian Invasion (1 oz of each of the following: vodka, OJ, cranberry, mix withy ice in a shaker and pour into a cocktail glass).

rob / June 1, 2004 11:43 AM

A modified, and admittedly girly, Arnold Palmer:

Ice tea, lemonade, raspberry stoli.

The regulars at my bar don't know it yet, but they're gonna be drinking it all summer long.

jima / June 1, 2004 12:15 PM

Lest the casual reader think that GB is staffed with and patronized by lushes (although it is, we try not to advertise it), I put in a vote for water, cool and clear.

Sorry, did I say water? I meant butt sex.

Benjy / June 1, 2004 12:22 PM

Cold beer...

A lex / June 1, 2004 12:57 PM

Mmm...toss up between the frozen Margaritas I make at home and sangria with lots of rum, fruit and ice!

jenny / June 1, 2004 1:45 PM

Homemade lemonade, sun-brewed ice tea, or a margarita with extra salt, depending on the day.

Shylo / June 1, 2004 2:09 PM

Hey, don't look at me. That other guy brought up the naughtiness.

I'm going to vote for pink lemonade and vodka with multicolored "rimming sugar" or the oh-so-dependable gin and tonic.

Archie / June 1, 2004 2:12 PM

Berryweiss

lacey / June 1, 2004 2:22 PM

An iced americano with milk & raw sugar...awww yeah.

Pat / June 1, 2004 2:29 PM

an ice cold pop?

Jake / June 1, 2004 2:31 PM

Tom Collins. A classic cocktail.

robin.. / June 1, 2004 2:57 PM

gins and tonic; and those little wet ones, mojitos!

and i second that cold, clean, clear water. hydration is key.

Steve / June 1, 2004 3:01 PM

Nothin' beats an ice cold 40 when I'm kickin' it on the curb.

But seriously, has anyone ever managed to successfully spike a watermelon? The time I did it it just came out overbearingly alcoholic and no one but me (an overbearing alcoholic) would consume it.

Since all watermelons are not the same size, is there a ratio of ounces of vodka to pounds of watermelon that works?

Andrew / June 1, 2004 3:07 PM

Back in college, I poured a flask of Everclear into a medium-sized watermelon through a small hole carved in the top. In about two hours (probably quicker, actually) we had liquified melon -- powerful stuff, but if you mixed it with a little Sprite/7Up, it was frightenly good. We came nowhere near finishing it.

schecki / June 1, 2004 3:17 PM

A nice big salt-rimmed margarita.

daruma / June 1, 2004 3:21 PM

Yea for Electric Lemonade!

Paul / June 1, 2004 3:32 PM

1. Leinenkugel's Berry Weiss.
2. Lemonade. Good lemonade.
3. Water.

Naz / June 1, 2004 4:02 PM

Water is good, oh cool good water. However I do consume large amounts of Gatorade in the summer.

Craig / June 1, 2004 5:59 PM

A nice cold glass of absinthe.

Missuh / June 1, 2004 10:00 PM

I'm with Craig.
That or Guinness. It's always time for Guinness.

Gordon / June 2, 2004 12:37 AM

Straight vodka. Mixers are for babies.

mike / June 2, 2004 12:53 AM

Lake water.

'That Ian' / June 2, 2004 9:04 AM

ORCHATA! I certainly hope everyone here has been to Lazo's Tacos on Western and Armitage. They have the very best Orchata I have ever had in my entire life. And a huge glass of it is only $1.00. Couple that with an enormous burrito for $3.75 and bottomless chips and salsa, and you've got yourself one damn good meal!

amyc / June 2, 2004 9:24 AM

"Lemonaaaade....that cool, refreshing drink..."

lacey / June 2, 2004 11:05 AM

Oh man, Horchata is the stuff! Thanks for reminding me...

Ernest Hemmingway / June 2, 2004 11:31 AM

Mojitos! And La Bodeguita del Medio is where I sat, consuming this heavenly beverage.

+mojan. / June 2, 2004 1:40 PM

Water is always number one, but Schweppes Bitter Lemon is at a close two. Yum.

'That Ian' / June 2, 2004 3:16 PM

Hell yeah it is. I love me some sweetened rice-water. It's so much better than soda cos it's made with REAL sugar, not corn syrup. BOOYAH!

eliina / June 2, 2004 8:15 PM

bells oberon says the michigan transplant

Kevin / June 3, 2004 12:57 PM

Coffee.

Vit / June 4, 2004 7:39 PM

Bell's (okay, who knew there were all these Bell's fans... bit creepy ;)

Missuh / June 16, 2004 9:42 PM

Mario's Italian Ice. Watermelon flavored.
