By going to Wisconsin.
When I used to live in Boystown, on Roscoe between Halsted and Broadway, I had 2 choices. Either embrace it or get the hell out of Dodge. So, I alternated. One year, I went to Colorado and hiked Pike's Peak insanely fast with a school friend. I felt a hell of a lot prouder of myself then than I have from any Parade. But I won't deny the event can be a hell of a lot of fun.
This year, I'm obligated to be in the parade as part of the swim group, as my partner helped fill out the ranks of the rugby team for me a few years back.
Sequined thong is at the dry cleaners so nothing I guess...
staring longingly at photos of milla jovovich.
On Saturday, brunch with the girls, then the dyke march in Pilsen. On Sunday, breakfast with the boys, then the parade in Boystown. I'll skip Tiffany and PrideFest though. I thought she was annoying in the 1980s and now I just don't care. Seriously thinking about Pride Fest in Milwaukee next year.
Sleeping. But I will be having gay thoughts every now and then.
Objectify the bare breasted women at the lesbian parade in Pilsen.
Hummmm, yea I'm tired of the "party gay white guys" and pandering politicans, with exception of Lisa Madigan!
Of course I might feel differently if the parade was on a Saturday
:-)
didn't know there was a dyke march in Pilsen. Perhaps I'll go to that to show support and then do Chinese.
I'll probably be sleeping straight through it...hee hee, get it? "straight" through it.
(yes, I'm a Dorky Breeder)
Yeah.
I'll be celebrating with Cubby Swagger over the SouthSide S&!$men.
Cubs Pride, SoxSide!
Oh, you meant the whole GBLTV pride thing. I couldn't decide to be in tha parade or not and didn't sign up before the deadline arrived. I may go and watch just for the cocktails and bawdy tales.
ahem- the preferred akrownym is GLBTQ. i'm impressed i know that. i also know what bears and beards are and own the al pacino Cruisin' dvd.
i didn't previously know anything about a "dyke march" but the name is corny as a motherlover. good luck w/ that girls.
This year I'll probably just stick around my Lakeview apartment and start Richard Price's "Lush Life," even though the parade is only a block away. I'm gonna hate feeling trapped there, though.
There used to be a lot more creativity, passion, even anger in the past as gays fought for more recognition, AIDS activism, etc. Now even BP [British Petroleum] has a float.
Carlotta, BP stands for Beyond Petroleum. Speaking of acronyms, what is the TQ in GLBTQ?
it stands for transgender and queer
"i didn't previously know anything about a "dyke march" but the name is corny as a motherlover. good luck w/ that girls"
It's been happening every year since 1996 (and is always a blast), so I'd say they're having pretty good luck with it even without your condescending blessing.
i thought the Q was for questioning.
and after looking at that myspace page- the design work for the march flyer is f'ing amazing. that alone would temper the sarcasm of my "get em girls." i'll maintain "dyke march" is a garbage name but that's just me. and it got my attention so whaddoiknow. but consider me told.
i'm curious on the move to pilsen though. is this due to the Dudez take over of Girl's Town. or on some take it to the heart of catholicism. or just south-side lesbians keepin it real on some "north side's gay." ?
Now even BP [British Petroleum] has a float. Wow!
Yea I always thought "boyz town" is nothing but a bunch of Logan Cabin republicans who love Daley
Man, as a straight guy, even I'm more queer than them
I think is cool that Queer women are doing thier own thing especially on the south side. That takes courage!
I'm going to try to attend both parades and take pictures.
I've never been to the pride parade b/c I hate crowds, so I'm going to the taste instead.
since i live 10 yrs near the 'hood i'll be probably avoiding the crowds...by either staying east of broadway or get out while i can..
the march in pilsen is just for a change of scenery.I heard they'll be marching in different neighborhoods each year.
