oh oh oh oh! brad and jen! they broke up!

Naz / January 18, 2005 1:37 PM

Who?

Pete / January 18, 2005 1:49 PM

I am a witty, urbane, stupendously accomplished stud muffin with a luxuriant, full head of hair. Oh, wait--gossip? Not fantasy?

Sorry, no gossip.

miss ellen / January 18, 2005 1:57 PM

not quite gossip, but a celebrity sighting i meant to share with GB:

Justina Machado (plays Vanessa Diaz on Six Feet Under) was hanging out at the Winds Cafe in Logan Square checking out a HOT Latin Band a couple of weeks ago.

she has tons of family in the chicago area & was extremely gracious when my roomie went to confirm our sighting.

good people at the winds cafe, i can't give them enough props!

am / January 18, 2005 2:10 PM

only about me and, well, i'm probably the only one excited about any of it.

chris / January 18, 2005 2:12 PM

In order to make it though life, I sneak off to the nudie bar a couple of times a week.

Steve / January 18, 2005 2:17 PM

Ooooh ooooh, I got some: the ex that Lisa mentioned getting back together with in the "Sum up your 2004 in 20 words or less" thread last month has been booted out of her life for conduct unbecoming of a gentleman.

Steve / January 18, 2005 2:23 PM

Also: a friend of mine met the legendary Super Dave Osborne while at a Palm Springs mall a few weeks ago. How he remembered what Super Dave Osborne looks like is beyond me....

eep / January 18, 2005 2:29 PM

My boss is aware of the office weirdo's weird behavior and is watching him for his next slip-up. He might get canned if he doesn't watch it, but he doesn't know it yet. Dum dum dummm!

In other news, Joan Cusack supposedly has a huge ego.

Andrew / January 18, 2005 2:35 PM

Mark my words: When ATA gets back on its feet, it'll open new gates at Gary/Chicago International Airport.

anonymous / January 18, 2005 2:53 PM

One of the Chicago based bachelors from the Bachelorette makes it to the final four, and the French dude is not so much a heterosexual.

wc / January 18, 2005 3:25 PM

I am afraid of large groups of young white males.

Is that gossip? Or just common sense? Either way, don't tell anyone.

anonymous / January 18, 2005 3:26 PM

I have a crush on gapers block. But don't tell them.

Thurston / January 18, 2005 3:50 PM

Aon Chariman and CEO Pat Ryan, who was also in charge of Bush's Midwest campaign fundraising, used his poltical influence to get former Republican senatorial candidate and Aon & McDonalds board member Andrew McKenna the job as head of the Illinois GOP. As patronage for his efforts, Ryan was offered the ambassadorship to Ireland but turned it down so he could continue to run Aon as its chairman. Knowing he had political brownie points to spend, Ryan used them to help his buddy McKenna, who will in turn help Ryan keep Aon out of the SEC's crosshairs given the company's investigation by New York Attorney General Elliot Spitzer. What a tangled web!

Also, all the media coverage about gambling in Chicago is just theatre for the benefit of the public; Daley and Trump agreed to put a casino in Trump's development at 401 N. Wabash in 2001, and it was in fact a condition of Trump's investment here. But everyone already knows that.

Ian / January 18, 2005 4:12 PM

Umm...hmm...I heard the Silver Jews are working on their *final* record.

Jeff / January 18, 2005 5:09 PM

A popular Andersonville restaurant sells "premium" gins and vodkas that are about as real as a $3 bill.

Leelah / January 18, 2005 5:15 PM

Steve has a tail!

sally / January 18, 2005 5:18 PM

Celebrity sighting: Saw Joan Cusak over the holidays at The Davis with her three kids and hubbie in tow to see "The Incredibles". They were at the concession stand and Joan was trying to calm her boys down and hide her face, but the voice gave it all away. She was dressed in sweats with a fancy coat over the top. She looked heinous!

anonymous / January 18, 2005 5:52 PM

I hear that adidas is finally opening its Chicago store.

Steve / January 18, 2005 6:22 PM

I hear that Iran's next....

paul / January 18, 2005 7:50 PM

A certain well-known web-editor was seen in a certain Halsted bar during a show tunes happy hour.

Oh wait, I was too.

Richard Bluestein / January 19, 2005 2:07 AM

Thanks for the kind words in your story about Madge Weinstein and Adam Curry. I just want to point out that I never intended to deceive Adam Curry. I'm still not convinced that this wasn't a publicity stunt on his part. Also onlly two of my 55 podcasts were scripted. The rest were completely impromptu.

Maggie / January 19, 2005 9:11 AM

What bar has a show-tunes happy-hour? I must go!

steven / January 19, 2005 9:31 AM

sure wish the jimmy buffett story on the front page was a rumor. i hear david lee roth is joining him.

Mike / January 19, 2005 9:47 AM

My girlfriend's dad's dog's former owner told me that this guy who knows David Spade says he's gay as a French Horn.

Kris / January 19, 2005 10:05 AM

Maggie: Sidetrack.

Not that I would have any way of knowing that.

Shylo / January 19, 2005 10:56 AM

We have to have an upcoming Gapers event at Sidetrack. Anyone down?

Abe Froman / January 19, 2005 12:00 PM

My boss clips his toenails at work. He hangs his sock over his shoulders and proceeds to call me in for a meeting while he clips his damn toenails. This is in a professional office setting mind you.

vincent / January 19, 2005 12:44 PM

Brad and Jen were inevitable. Usher and Naomi even more so!

It was rumored that Naomi dumped Usher for finding his entourage "too controlling," but apparently, he dumped her for being "too boring."

She answered back by doing a scandalous Janet Jacksonesque nipple slip while on the catwalk in Brazil.

Oh, the woe!

Krissy / January 19, 2005 1:02 PM

I hear Harrison Ford's a huge pothead on the sets of his movies.

Eamon / January 19, 2005 1:24 PM

I hate Sidetrack. I heard it's a front for Rat-Bastards United, with strong ties to the I'm Talking To My Boyfriend Right Now And So I Simply Do Not Have The Time To Pour You A Drink Bartenders' Underground.

Paul / January 19, 2005 1:39 PM

Someone I know is getting a Mac.

kate / January 19, 2005 4:08 PM

Screech from "Saved by the Bell" died of a flesh eating bacteria.

anonynous / January 19, 2005 4:41 PM

Ex-Bulls Coach Phil Jackson not only smokes a lot of grass, he grows it too. It is a little family project he has with his 25-year old twin sons, both Colorado-Boulder graduates.

Alex / January 19, 2005 6:06 PM

Hefty bags taped to your feet are the new Uggs!

Heather S. / January 20, 2005 9:19 AM

Gov. BlowGo lives in Ravenswood Manor and last year during their community garage sale his family was in it. He sold useless for really expensive. Old legals books and really old Mac programs stood out to me. Oh, and an Elvis painting.

dan / January 20, 2005 9:43 AM

Did you hear that crazy story about a 17-year old Laura Bush running a red light and killing her high school boyfriend? What a bunch of...

Oh shit. It's true... http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/laura.asp

Steve / January 20, 2005 10:42 AM

I heard that if Laura Welch had been poor or retarded instead of a future Stepford wife, she would've been charged with murder and executed post-haste in the proud tradition of Texas justice.

Cinnamon / January 20, 2005 10:48 AM

I hear that Gapers Block is up for at least one Bloggie award.
