Fresh tacos are what I imagine as the perfect summer food, but after going to the Roscoe Burger Fest, and having a brisket topped cheese-burger, I have to go w/the Ole' burger.
I just got back from our annual trip to the beach, and what I eat every summer is cold tomato sandwiches. Mayo, salt and pepper, and if we're feeling crazy, cheese and avocado, but good tomatoes are all you need.
typically, i try to make things i wont need to turn my oven on. this usually amounts to salads. if i turn the oven on, i make a ton of extra food so i don't have to cook the next night. that being said my fave summer foods are: hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream.
Open-faced goat cheese, basil, and tomato sandwiches on toasted bread. I highly recommend the goat cheese from Capriole at the Green City Market.
Chopped pineapple, tuna salad on whole wheat, chips & salsa.
so far this summer i've made honey mint, cherry cheesecake, and strawberry and black pepper ice creams. who needs dinners?
Honestly? Man I be F*cking round wit dem Nigerian vibes

Ji Na Agwa,
Jollof Rice,

I've no idea, but I once survived off of corndogs and caramel apples for an entire summer. Shepherd's Pie and caramel apples for the ensuing winter.
The key is the caramel apples.
Cold soba noodles! Or the Korean version: naengmyeon--noodles in a cold broth w/ slices of hard boiled egg, beef, sliced cukes, and fresh asian pear. Throw in some spicy mustard and rice vinegar, and omg is it refreshing!
this summer, it has been risotto for me. and not risotto made in a pressure cooker, but 45 minutes of standing over a gas stove stirring and adding and stirring and adding...all without air conditioning.
I don't know what is going on, but this is how it is thus far. perhaps I'll start transitioning to my normal summer diet of in season fruits (esp. after buying 5 lbs of peaches and 3 lbs of cherries). but damn, I love me some cauliflower risotto.

I've been really sweet on smoothies of strawberries, apple juice and yogurt.
I've also been crushing on salads with strawberries, chicken (marinated in lemon and tarragon), goat cheese and balsamic dressing.
