I believe that the perception of luck correlates to the level of expectation.
I enter many raffles and then I forget about them right away. If I win something, it is always a nice surprise. If I did not win, it is as if the raffle never happened.

i randomly won 2 tickets to the B96 summer bash yesterday. they were in front of a bank by ford city and had a hypeman on a mic flagging down cars to come over to their setup. i went to see what sort of free things i could get and entered the raffle. i won! it was awkward for everyone when the guy on the mic asked me who i was most excited to see @ the bash and i asked him who was going to be there. d'oh. (after research- I'd say Pitbull or Danity Kane are most exciting) anyway i work tomorrow so i can't use the tickets. but I Won!!

My birthday is on a 13th, and inevitably on a Friday every so often. In fact, my 13th birthday was on Friday the 13th. Yet I am still here.

Hence, I am invincible.

Wow, congrats p!

My luck is generally good, but I do get stretches of crappy luck on occasion. Seems like when it rains, it pours.

I'm not very superstitious. I would say my luck is about average.

Freak accident: I broke my ankle on Friday, January 13, 1989.

i have pretty good luck i think. i usually always win raffles. last week i won a $50 cert. to the grafton pub!

Other than the sort of fundamental blessings of being born white, male (hey, I'm a realist) reasonably intelligent and to a pretty OK middle class type family in the good ol' US of A, my luck is pretty even-Steven. I play poker, I break even. i go to the horse races, I more or less break even. Something bad happens in my life, it is usually counterbalanced by something OK. I'm waiting for some of my good karma debts to get cashed, maybe like in landing an awesome job, or winning some sort of lottery, but my existence is pretty decent. Like I said, even-Steven.

Leelah / June 17, 2008 4:36 PM

Fairly lucky in terms of winning things occasionally. I've won tickets to Bob Mould from WXRT. Once in a bar on the south side, I won tickets to Sammy Hagar, but I did not want to win them, so I gave them away to some guys in the bar.

Bad bad luck in love, though!

Luck is a combination of good cirumstances. I beleive that luck comes by actively choosing to make decisions about life. If you choose to try something, do something, act a certain way, instead of doing nothing... luck happens.

I also think that you have to be willing to make a mistake to be lucky... because regrets are choices you never make. So, buy that lottery ticket. Call that guy you thought may like you. Ask your boss for your promotion. You might get lucky?

I asked my boss for a raise today. I may get lucky and get it, because I asked....

Baldeesh / June 17, 2008 10:09 PM

I'm feeling pretty lucky today.

I came home and discovered I had left one of the stove burners on all day long.

The apartment was fine, the cats were fine, but damn, this does not help my anxiety issues.

rick / June 18, 2008 12:11 AM

Unlucky in love. Lucky to be alive.
So I guess, I break even.

Hal / June 18, 2008 8:44 AM

All told, probably pretty good.

But I have odds-defying bad luck at raffles or drawings. Before I buy a ticket, I just make sure that it's for a cause I'd throw a few bucks at anyway, because that's really what's happening.

Mucky Fingers / June 18, 2008 10:48 AM

I was born. I was raised well by loving parents. I have friends. I have a good wife. I have hobbies & interests to stimulate me. I have a steady job. I have a sense of humor.

I am alive. I am healthy. I AM A VERY LUCKY MAN!!!

Keefer / June 18, 2008 12:21 PM

Considering I am not living in Iraq, Afghanistan, parts of India, Africa, etc., any "problems" I might have are small potatoes. Hence I am very lucky. I guess it's kind of shallow to use someone else's misery as a yardstick for your own quality of life, but like they say, it can always be worse.
