Thousands of people will be mobbing the restaurants this Sunday -- which is why I won't be. I'll be bringing my mom a nice card and probably a bouquet, and having dinner with her and the rest of my family at home.

mike / May 6, 2005 4:39 PM

Take her for a walk at a state park. Bake her cookies, simple QT stuff.

miss ellen / May 6, 2005 4:42 PM

going to spend the night at my p's after the U2 concert tomorrow.

wake up & cook french toast for my mom, no need to go out for breakfast. then, maybe take a nice walk before heading back home.

going to see wicked! if my broker-purchased e-tickets aren't fakes--I've been losing sleep about it. I'm pretty sure it'll be fine...

Shylo / May 6, 2005 11:55 PM

I go to Old Country Buffet to watch the bedraggled mothers, their hyper children, and neglectful fathers pig out. The best birth control out there, yo.

Shasta MacNasty / May 7, 2005 12:01 PM

I decided to bypass the actual mother's day "weekend" by doing a mother/daughter spa day last week Saturday. I was also able to through her birthday in the mix (score!) so it worked out really well. By celebrating a week in advance, we were able to get all the appointments we wanted and avoid the crowds. I'll give her a card tomorrow to mark the actual day. Think I'll do this every year.

Michael / May 7, 2005 5:27 PM

Yeah, visiting day at Menard falls on a Wednesday this week, so this'll pretty much be just like any other Sunday.

Brenda / May 8, 2005 10:20 AM

Mother's Day... crap. Forgot all about it. Guess it'll be a guilt-filled phone call and some kind of electronically-delivered gift certificate.

mike-ts / May 8, 2005 10:37 AM

Go out with a bucket, dish soap, and a plastic bristle brush and give the head stone a good scrub-down, then edge the grass encroaching on the border of the footstone. Then go to church and pray a rosary for her in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

Then call my out of town aunt, who doubles as my Godmother, and say g'day, auntie. With us, the Godparent thing is taken seriously, and not just an honor, so it is totally fitting. She's been "ma" since I was 29.

megs / May 8, 2005 1:51 PM

Probably going to dig in the dirt after dinner. Mom and I are into gardening.

matt / May 8, 2005 6:51 PM

i showed up in Florida as a surprise. my mom seems to think that was a nice thing to do. :)

Mac / May 9, 2005 12:07 AM

Magic Mushrooms and Wild Turkey.

Pete / May 9, 2005 8:58 AM

One thing not to do...I drove past Haunted Trails in Crest Hill on Saturday, and was amused to see their sign read "Moms (Mini) Golf for Free on Mothers Day."

Until that point, I had thought the tackiest thing to do for you mom on Mothers Day was to take her to the season opener at Arlington. But at least you can get a decent Bloody Mary at Arlington.

Erica / May 9, 2005 9:21 AM

Listen to her talk complain about your older, evil sisters and relish in the fact that you always have been and always will be "the baby" and the favorite!

Dramamama / May 13, 2006 5:55 PM

I am making my mom bfast in bed and then giving her a ggift and then giving her a spaday at home!!!!!!!!!!
