Hmm...veteran leadership is over-rated. But solid perimeter defense is what the Bulls lacked--and Pip can play three positions solid (1,2,and 3) and the 4 on occasion. He'll create confusing match-ups for opponents, especially when he's in the game with Jalen Rose. He gives the Bulls a serious height advantage when he plays the 2 if Jamal Crawford is at point (because Jamal is 6'6", and he's 6'8". Donyell Marshall (6'10") would be the 3, and Tyson Chandler and Eddie Curry are each 7').

Pip is one of the top five defenders in the history of basketball. As long as he keeps his mouth shut, he'll be invaluable.

Tip: Find a book that takes O/U on wins in NBA props. Before September, that number for the Bulls will be low and the money line high. Take the O, just a little something.

Wiz, you're just being contrarian aren't you? ;)

I think Pippen will be an asset. At the very least, he'll bring some excitement back in the stands, which is a good thing; the Bulls haven't gotten much help from the crowd in recent years.

do the bulls need more bizzarely attractive men on their team? because if so, then s. pippen's the man.

Wiz of Odds / July 21, 2003 2:42 AM

No, I'm serious! Also, he's married to an Assyrian girl. I'm sure she had no small part in convincing him to leave Portland (0 Assyrians) for Chicago (>55,000 Assyrians). We can keep hoping he'll show up at our picnics.

I think the Bulls will crack .500 this year. If not .500 then just a win or two shy. Curry started to really improve at the end of the season and Crawford was playing well also. The Bulls are much more than a Pippen away from being a contender, but his presence will help win some games.

They'll be better, but not drastically so.

He'll confuse Jalen Rose.

Craig / July 21, 2003 9:51 AM

Sure-- just like Jordan's return saved the Bullets...er...Wizards!

Andrew / July 21, 2003 2:54 PM

Craig, it's not like he's taken the last year or two off. He's still a solid player, and the Bulls have a much better team than the Wizards, so it won't be a situation like Jordan pulling the entire team.

Naz Hensley / July 21, 2003 3:40 PM

Scottie who? Bulls who?

I kid, I kid!

lacey / July 21, 2003 3:57 PM

Yeah wasn't he like, a basketball player a long time ago or something?

lacey / July 22, 2003 10:11 AM

Actually, I noticed just this morning as I was behind a bus that there was a Bulls promotional ad and Pippen was already pictured on it! They don't waste time.
