In general I think it's strange to have car DVD systems in the first place. My uncle had a LCD tv installed in the front of his Benz. I thought this was a bad idea. Your eyes should be on the road not on an LCD. In the back it may be understandable and in bigger vehicles - road trip worthy.

Add porn to the mix and you've got a bad deal methinks.

Andrew / March 11, 2004 11:50 AM

I've actually seen this -- porn on the screen in the back of a blacked-out Navigator. It wasn't late, maybe 8pm.

I can't believe that you can't wait to get home to watch your new porno. Who wants to get all hot and bothered in a car -- I mean, besides your average high schooler?

miss ellen / March 11, 2004 11:51 AM

I agree with Naz; DVD's in cars, especially within view of the driver = bad idea. It's amazing how much more you're seeing this on the road, though. Driving at night, it's strange NOT to see a screen here & there these days..

The porn itself, to each his own, but let's just keep it outta public view. The kids, people, remember the kids.

I imagine it's not a matter of standing, but sitting or being horizontal.

stephen / March 11, 2004 12:42 PM

Bah, just get a bike and an acrobatic girlfriend.

Ian / March 11, 2004 12:47 PM

Oh man, I'm such a fan of porno in cars! Seriously, can life get better than drivin' and whackin' it? Methinks it is a combination made in heaven.

This trucker I hitched with a few years ago talked for about two hours about jerking off while he was driving. He told me he had this technique where he could blow his load out the window while driving at 75mph and not even get any on the door! Imagine driving down the highway and having a load of cum come dropping out of the sky on your windshield; or were it summer imagine the load dropping all over your arm!

I got reminded of that because he had one of those portable DVD players in his truck. Point being: I'm a big fan of porno in vehicles.

We all know these "Fuel" discusssions turn to sex eventually, but this question sure cut through the pretense!

Kenan / March 11, 2004 1:12 PM

Whacking it in the car is difficult enough without trying to watch porn at the same time. Not that it's not a great time killer on those long, straight stretches of highway.

Drivers caught playing porn that is visible to other drivers should be ticketed (except perhaps for in neighborhoods that have instated vasectomy zoning).

In response to a dvd screen being in sight of the driver = a bad idea, what about navigation system screens? As multi-layered as those things can get, it's a miracle that more people don't wreck their SUVs while playing with them.

In response to the porn, I'd rather not be forced to watch a porno while stuck in traffic behind some dvd equipped vehicle, and I'd also rather a driver keep his mind on the road rather than pleasuring himself.

Maybe these people with big luxury cars can't afford to have dvd players at home and have to resort to watching their porno while in transit? I'd support a Keep the Porno Off the Street fund to buy these people home entertainment systems.

Folks should only drive while driving. Hands-free telephone, all right then.

And um, one could argue for or against hands-free porn but come on people... eyes on the road!

No screens in the front for the driver!
Screen in the back for Spongebob or porn or whatever, maybe... with tinted windows?

heh heh, pornmobile.
oh this world.

is whacking it in the car illegal?

Ian v2.0 / March 11, 2004 3:58 PM

Can they not project the image onto the windshield, like fighter-jet 'head up' display? Then the driver can keep his eyes on the all the action, on the road and elsewhere...

amyc / March 11, 2004 10:56 PM

Perhaps the porn is for the passengers, not the driver. But then, who would want to drive that car?

Jenn / March 12, 2004 4:30 PM

Found this interesting compliment to comments; excerpt from the Associated Press:

Depending on where they are driving or parked, some motorists now could face fines and/or jail time for screening X-rated content on their car DVDs. Some people are calling for tighter regulations. “Just like there’s no windows in a strip club, you shouldn’t be able to see inside windows in a car when they’re watching X-rated movies,” said Andrea Carlton a Gurnee, Illinois mother whose daughter was exposed to adult movies in an adjacent minivan. Carolyn Sims, a Flint, Michigan politician, says residents shouldn’t be subjected to those obscenities, and she’s studying whether a local ordinance with a $500 fine is needed.

A driver in Schenectady, New York was arrested in February after driving by a police car with a sexually explicit tape playing in full view on his passenger-side sun visor and on screens integrated into the Mercedes-Benz model’s headrests. He was accused of breaking state laws prohibiting watching television while driving, as well as a law making it illegal to exhibit sexually explicit material in a public place. The arresting officer said that if the owner had dark, tinted windows where you could not see inside, that it would not have been a public display

What's wrong with seeing Pr0n in cars? I love that movie!

The way the guy ends up inside the video game and he has to travel super fast in those crazy video game cars, and everyone he knows lives there -- but they are all different people, and he has to save the day.

Oh, wait...that's "Tron" not "Pr0n."
Duh.
