I've fallen back to smart writer-singers of the 70s: The Essential Kris Kristofferson & John Prine's "In Spite of Ourselves"
Smithsonian Folkways' "Black Banjo Songsters of North Carolina and Virginia".
Nothing but soul through and through.
The majestic "armageddon overhead" of the practice runs for the Air & Water Show.
Good god damn is it loud.
Also pulled out Candy-O but am having a hard time hearing parts of it. Due mostly to the fucking Blue Angels.
ditto to kate's "majestic 'armageddon overhead' of practice runs"
also. im revisiting kanye west and wilco today. i watched the darwin awards movie last night and since then i've wanted to listen to wilco.
In CD player on the el this morning?
De La Soul's "Stakes is High" because....
"Migrating to a higher form of consequence, compliments
of strugglin', that shouldn't be notable,Man every word
I( they) say should be a hip hop quotable."
I love this alblum!
Today, as I was yesterday, I am rocking to the sounds of the aircraft arriving for the Air & Water Show. I got to see a formation come in last night around 6:30. I'm ready to throw the Top Gun soundtrack in the CD player right about now in anticipation. For real. I love the sound of superior air power early in the evening. It sounds like victory.
Now we have the Gary Air Show to go with the Chicago Air Show, we've become doubly blessed.
Kanye West ft. Daft Punk "Stronger." Oh. My. God. So Great.
-KEXP streaming at work
-The Shout Out Louds "Our Ill Wills" to and from the train.
I'm rockin' the allergies...
Go hayfever, go hayfever, go hayfever!!...
BTW, wasn't "rockin'" one of the words on the "phrases you wish would disappear" list?
Nice turn of phrase, kate. I also wish they'd go the hell away, but they're also part of the reason I'm taking a half-day off today. So bring it on, reckless daredevils of the sky!
As for what I may or may not be rocking, at the very moment the sad answer is nothing; I don't listen to music at work. At home, I've been listening to concert recordings by bands who allow their gigs to be taped. With a very few exceptions of old favorites, I've really lost interest in music recorded in a studio. But a show by the likes of Joe Ely or Alejandro Escovedo will always entertain me.
Sequined flops and a partially sequined top, along with a crazy huge ring made from a clip-on earring from the '70s. Also, listening to a lot of stuff from The Exciters.
The Casbah, of course.
Rocking The Rolling Stones, The Church and a whole lot of Oasis.
Actually, I am also rocking some new underwear, but only you pollsters on GB now know this.
Max Roach.....RIP
I live on the lake so I guess I should try and drown out the Scare & Bother show. They seem to turn around up here.
I don't get it.

There is a theme on the turntable today, Hot Chocolate's Greatest Hits and Parliament's Chocolate City. No, I didn't plan it out ahead. Nor will I take the theme any further.
On to Jimmy Smith and Dave Van Ronk.
The Clash (volume one)
Lady Sovereign
The Mooney Suzuki
and:
FEAR!!!!!
Charlie: Big upps( not on the "disappear" list)" on Max Roach!
I'm listening to "CoCo" right now at my work computer!
and how does Gary affoard and "Air and Water show"
?
I mean Chicago can because we only have 24 homeless people living downtown
But now that air and water shows are becoming passé
maybe we should stop while we are ahead, ( no angels have falled to the earth after crashing into each other yet!) and do
do a "Peace and Justice" Show next year?
My new red hoodie tee. Also, some music or something...
I'm rockin' my ponytail. It's only recently that my hair's been long enough for one, and I love it.
some duke spirit, police, kings of leon...all floating around in my head right now
otherwise i'm rockin some kickass code here at work..huahhh.
I'm rocking an old dress shirt
and Pere Ubu—The Modern Dance
Good times
Staci--Heard that. I'm rockin' a couple of bracelets made out of typewriter keys from the 20s. And also listening to "Cry Little Sister," theme from The Lost Boys.
Whatever was on the floor when I woke up and realized I was late for work.
Also, Flight of the Conchords' "Leggy Blonde" on repeat.
Ya know I was at first gonna go with the todays threads
actually I was late for work too and being that its friday so I'm rock'n the 14 dollar marked down GAP jeans, old cow boy boots and a red vintage strip shirt and some prayer wooden beads I got from Thailand.
I too am rockin' the Air Show, so lots of hard rock for me. The more electric guitar, the better! Fighter jets are so fucking awesome! Makes me glad I don't live in a country that gets bombed on a routine basis. I'd be dead because I'd be looking at all the cool planes.
This town?
jeans, white t, and green wedge shoes.
all day I got to listen to other peoples itunes so I heard some Jay-Z and Kaiser Chiefs and Chicago and Jodeci. I was rockin' it all today!
I'm rockin' my sister's wedding rehearsal in San Francisco!
Currently playing: Tracks of my Tears (in the hotel lobby, but it is a jam, as they say...)
Today, Saturday, I'm rockin' the golf course.
With my iPod rockin' as well.
That makes doubly rockin' of the golf course.
At this moment - GnR's Locomotive.
Now that's rockin'
Not unlike Dokken.
G'n'R and a raincoat.

...And a new pair of chuck taylors
I haven't rocked either since high school
Demetri Martin's comedy CD entitled: These are Jokes.
The Sapiens, who I saw open for the Rikters at Schubas last week.
And the Shins Chutes too Narrow.
Okkervil River, 1990's, St. Vincent and lots of Datarock (the summer CD that just won't go away).
I'll be rockin some heads with my rusty bike chain and iron pole outside of the Bijou Theater later in order to beat some normal into people.
A wicked cough.
Devendra Banhart, a mix cd made for me by a former coworker, Rogue Wave.
My kitchen. Almost finished.
The Blisters at the kid's tent in Millennium Park. Best kid's band I've seen....prolly ever. And they're cover of "Sweet Home Alabama" was downright surreal.
