My brother and a supplemental gift from my aunt, who I have in the family Christmas exchange, are it.

Think I might get my brother a tie. How's that sound, Pete?

Gemma / December 17, 2009 11:15 AM

I have all of my store-bought gifts ready. Now I just need to set aside some time to make some edible gifts like cookies, brittles and candied nuts.

annie / December 17, 2009 1:55 PM

I'm nearly finished, have 2 more toys to buy for the niece and nephew. I don't buy for many people, we have decided to only buy for the kids from now on and I don't have kids so I feel like I get screwed a little. Oh well. And with a week to go, this is a Christmas miracle to be this close to finished. I wonder how Luke is doing with his shopping? Ha!

Carrie / December 17, 2009 1:55 PM

not much. Only my sister... and I know (and she knows) what she's getting. Other than that, me and the mister are just getting stuff for the kitchen, which we still need to get.

All of it.

Everyone.

Nuke LaLoosh / December 17, 2009 3:18 PM

Not to hijack this thread -- maybe this is better for another "Fuel" topic -- but who, other than family, should someone buy for? Who are the acquaintances/service providers one should buy a gift for or give a special holiday tip to? And how much?

Categories I am considering:

Hair stylist?
(I gave a 50% tip to my stylist after my holiday haircut -- too extravagant? Too cheap?)

Mail carrier?

Newspaper deliveryman?

Barista at the shop on the corner?

Streetwise vendor?

Dry cleaner?

Tailor?

Administrative Assistants at work?

Gapers Block editor?
Just kidding, Andrew, but if I see you at the pub, I'll buy you a drink.

Merry/Happy!

I have a trip to Trader Joe's planned for tomorrow to get stuff for a party I'm going to Saturday and for the host of said party. Then I'm done.

As far as service people, I will tip the crap out of my stylist next week and the Streetwise vendor I know. The postal carrier gets nothing, as I don't get half of my mail as it is. I don't have a personal one of the rest of those categories.

prolly 2/3's done.
but still have both my brothers to shop for. not really sure what to get either of them though. :(
probably guitar stuff for one and running stuff for the other? lame?

James / December 18, 2009 11:31 AM

I have two more items to buy. That's the least I've needed at this point in the season in many years.

Mike / December 18, 2009 3:46 PM

A few years ago my family decided to stop buying lots of gifts for each other. It was getting ridiculous. I get my mom, dad, sister, girlfriend and a handful of friends a few gifts. It's so much easier. Granted, I don't have kids and my godson and cousins are already spoiled rotten, so I have it very easy. This way I get to concentrate on a few cool sentimental gifts, instead of this all being a big chore. I also donate a few hundred dollars to charities I support and participate in gifts for needy families through my employer. Happy Festivus everyone.

Just buying for the nieces, my Mom, and my youngest sister and her husband since I have to see them on Xmas. Mr M is having health problems and I wish I could make him healthy. A lot of my xmas $ is going towards vet bills.
