We did this one back in '06; it's bound to be a different one now.

For me, it was "Powder Burns" by Twilight Singers until a video got "Bad Romance" in there. That one'll be hard to dislodge.

Rick Abplanalp / June 7, 2010 2:48 PM

Yesterday's was so awful it seems worth mentioning today - the theme song from "America's Funniest Home Videos." Now, at the mere sight of this question, it is there again. Dammit, Andrew. I am now going to go find a drill to shove in my temple a la the movie Pi.

Annie / June 7, 2010 2:57 PM

No idea how or why, but the Soup Dragons Divine Thing. I don't think I've actually heard that song in 15 years at least. Weird.

Meems / June 7, 2010 4:29 PM

From The Karate Kid (1984) that song at the end. "You're the best...around! Nothing's ever gonna keep you down!"
Watched it like 2 weeks ago. Why is it still in my head??

Break up Song

Greg Kihn Band.

We had broken up for good just an hour before
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
Now I'm staring at the bodies as there's dancin' 'cross the floor
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
And then the band slowed the tempo and the music gets me down
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
It was the same old song with the melancholy sound
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh

They don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't write 'em like that anymore

We'd been living together for a million years
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
But now it feel so strange (out in the atmospheres?)
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
And then the jukebox plays a song I used to know
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
Now I'm staring at the bodies as they dancin' so slow
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh

They don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't write 'em like that anymore

Now I wind up staring at an empty glass
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh
Cause its so easy to say that you'll forget your past
Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh

They don't write 'em like that anymore, no!
They just don't write 'em like that anymore

They don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't write 'em like that anymore

Maddalena by German singer Rex Gildo

"Date w/ IKEA" by Pavement. I don't know why. I haven't listened to it in years. It started playing in my head on the train this a.m. and it won't stop. The only antidote is to go home this evening and play it.

geraly / June 8, 2010 11:26 AM

Baldeesh / June 8, 2010 12:37 PM

Not much today, but I remember when I went to Edinburgh Scotland and I had the drunken philosophers song stuck in my head for the entire week I was there.

It happened because I found out that David Hume was from Edinburgh almost as soon as I arrived.

"David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel"

daruma / June 8, 2010 2:51 PM
