A wedding in Michigan, a wedding in Iceland (!), and a wedding in California. By the time I'm done with the weddings, I'm all out of vacation time.
Otherwise, I'm just going to take advantage of the weather. Do more window shopping and exploring new neighborhoods. And of course, outdoor restaurants. Oh, and look forward to the big thunderstorms that come with the onset of summer.
i'm planning my own wedding -- and my garden.
Riding around with longer trips on the bike to other states. Swimming (hopefully the lake will actually be warm-ish this year). And travelling.
Moving into our new home, the kid's first birthday party, a wedding in Cabo San Lucas followed by a vacation there. Woo!
Hanging out on my deck, riding my bike often, drifting in and out of sleep watching Cubs games on lazy afternoons. Quitting my job at the end of July, travelling in Mexico and maybe a bit of Guatemala during August, starting grad school in September.
Cubs game opening weekend, street festivals, having my windows open, lots of walks, trip to the casino in Joilet, and Twangfest (a great music fest in St. Louis) in June.
Oh, remembering how great and pretty Chicago is after the months of grey and cold.
Building snowmen; raking leaves; Ft. Myers, maybe South Padre.
Moving down in the city from the suburbs and ending the commute on the weekends to the bars! Once I am down I will take part in street fests, 9 Cubs games and beach volleyball at North Ave Beach.
Can't wait!
hopefully getting out of dodge for a bit to do some scuba diving.
Enjoying my first summer on the East coast while in school and working.
Planning my winter trip to Africa.
Sitting out at the Pontiac drinking beer all summer!
Sittin' on the stoop fannin' myself from the mad crazy heat in the heart of the concrete jungle, yo.
Cubs games, getting a new bike, playing in the backyard with Ella, increasing my skin cancer risk by suntanning like hell, hopefully learning to garden, Printers Row Bookfair (!!), street festivals, reading in my backyard.
Bike riding, outdoor eating, weekly street festivals, farmers markets, wearing shorts and flip flops, bbqs, beer gardens, enjoying the time of year when Chicagoans are the happiest bunch on the whole planet and when our fine city most resembles Rio de Janeiro.
Ohhhh.... I can not wait!!!!!!!!!!
Sneaking drinks to the lakefront for a late-night swim. Grilling the coolest food and inviting everyone I know to come enjoy our new yard. Maybe teaching a friend's kid how to play hopscotch, developing thighs of steel from riding my bike so much, getting that sun-kissed look, eating a tomato right off the vine still warm from the sun, and seeing some baseball and at least a few Chicago Force games.
Going to London for July and August to study Interior Design.
The summer plans that we had fell through this week. So I don't know.
If I'm in the Midwest on July 4th, I'll probably get a ride to Indiana, like any self-respecting Illinoisian fireworks enthusiast. The display by the lake is dandy, I suppose. But I'll skip the gridlock and split a bag of Roman candles with a few friends, none of whom will need to serve as lookout.
I am so excited for beach volleyball! I can see my summer filled with nothing else except maybe planning my wedding (Aug 6, yeow). Shylo- I got yo number.
Yeah, summer in Chicago!!! Whoo hoo. Can't wait: Morning tennis games, afternoon barbeques, softball games, humming air conditioners, porch parties, lemonade, Cubs/Sox games, fireworks, birthday parties, swimming, and mowing lawns...I love hot summers in the Second City.
Starting out right with the US-England game at Soldier Field on Memorial Day weekend, ending well at a folk festival in the UP on Labor Day weekend (obplug: http://porkiesfestival.org/index.html), filled in between with Fire games, visits to Ravinia, hanging out with friends, spending lots of time with my grandfather. Oh, and working, too, I guess.
A wedding in England...
Fingers crossed, and I will get an educational grant to go to Jordan.
I also have a goal of someday having a boyfriend again, but I am not so sure that is ever going to happen!
Getting my Vespa, turning the big 25, and going to NYC for the Tony awards and seeing a few shows, and the biggest, PAYING OFF THE DEBT!!! YEAH!!!
Oh and refixing my bike
relax.
eat and drink on the roof.
get a tan.
entertain more.
walk more.
visit every farmer's market in the city.
be outside as much as possible.
attend a bachelorette party in atlantic city.
We are opening Istria Cafe, an Italian-style cafe in Hyde Park. Initially, we will have two locations. The first will open at 57th Street next to the Metra station. In addition to outstanding coffee, tea, pastry, bread and panini, we will be making our own authentic gelato. We are close to the 57th Street beach and the Museum of Science & Industry
Busy Summer, Happy Summer.
Walks to the lake, tennis, swimming, Italian ice, Ravinia, Cubs game in Milwaukee, firing up the grill (at least once), fireworks at Navy Pier (not on the fourth of July), eating outside as much as possible, movie in the park and hitting up all of the fun outdoors-y things that scream "summer".
walking/running on the lakefront with my boy (YES, finally a reason to hit the lake, this NW side girl doesn't get there enough);
sox games, and maybe a a cub game or two;
BBQing;
getting my bike tuned-up & actually going for some rides (mental note, get ass over to boulevard bikes);
beer gardens.
mostly, i'm gonna try to really enjoy summer in chicago. for many years, summer meant vacations & seeing shows (former phish kid), always looking forward to getting OUT of here. this year, my big trip is just finished & i'll be pretty much sticking around town for the summer months.
yeehaw!
biking, softball(!!!), enjoying the third-floor breeze in my apt, eating out, a possible vegas trip for a buddy's bachelor party, cubs games on the tv/radio, wishing summer didn't have to end
Late May-- make as many cool friends as possible
June-- baseball & beer, and lots of it!
July-- beach blanket bingo!
August-- uncontrollable weeping in my underwear on the kitchen floor
Early September-- short road trip somewhere interesting
Move to SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA where it's nice ALL YEAR LONG!
maybe...find a boyfriend? I'm....so...lonely... *sniffle*.
Building and riding the bikes I've collected or designed. Fixing and driving the postal jeep of doom. Also, dig out some of my cameras and shoot lots and lots of film, Oh, and world domination via the oppression of individual blades of grass.
Decorating new place in Avondale that -- get this -- has a back yard w/trees and junk! GRILLING. Planting stuff. Drinking cheap PBRs in some beer garden. Rocking Montrose Beach. Punk shows. Block parties. Blinding people w/my albino-white legs. Cutting my hair off a la Pedro. Giving my dog back yard baths. Camping somewhere far enough where you can see the stars and can't hear the highway ...
Drinkin' 40s on the stoop and annoying our new downstairs neighbor who I already don't like.
Wearing Chucks without socks so they stink so bad you have to keep them out on the back porch.
WORD.
School. Last year I took a course at Northwestern's Loop campus, this year I've signed up for classes at the Art Institute and UIC.
