By which I mean an intramural softball or volleyball team, or baggo/cornhole, or just biking on your own? Whatever physical activity, really.

I used to be on a beach volleyball team, but we disbanded. Might try doing it again this summer, though.

Leelah / May 14, 2008 11:54 AM

Training for my first marathon!

Right now I'm running on my own, but I will be in a "class" in June.

Brandy / May 14, 2008 12:00 PM

No team sports. That would mean me getting hit in the face with whatever projectile we're using.

Lotsa walking + lotsa sunscreen.

anne / May 14, 2008 12:18 PM

I like to run in the summer outside, but not with "people".

Is drinking in the back yard a sport? Cause I like to do that in the summer. (but not professionally)

irisheyes1212 / May 14, 2008 12:27 PM

I bought a second hand bike for the summer and would like to start riding. I will probably tool around the neighborhood because I am scared to ride in the streets.

I also was thinking of trying the couch to 5k program and start running, even though I will probably be too embarrassed to run in public. o_O

Sinbad / May 14, 2008 12:58 PM

The marathon... watching it, mostly.

But I do run. No team sports. Most of my friends are too out-of-shape, old, boozy and creaky to get a softball or touch football game together without having paramedics stationed nearby. And I didn't like the anonymous social sports league scene. So I run, by myself mostly. And I plan on getting a bike to mix it up.

v / May 14, 2008 1:20 PM

I'm on a kickball team. If that doesn't say summer, I don't know what does!

annie / May 14, 2008 1:45 PM

I'm on my work's softball team, but we're better at drinking than playing. It's a funny team, half of us in our late 20's early 30's the other half in their 50's and kinda outta shape. I bike alot too and this year we're riding in Ragbrai, a bike ride in Iowa. I'm not sure how I'll do on that, a little nervous. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I'm damn good at bags. I have a set and play as often as possible. I've been playing since I was about 5. I also enjoy horseshoes , and this year I plan to master that washer game that you through in a bucket.

running/training for the marathon. used to play beach volleyball, but have been out of the loop for a while. if anyone needs an extra person, let me know! can't guarantee that I'm amazing, but I think it's fun. and isn't it all supposed to be fun and games anyway?

Gemma / May 14, 2008 3:47 PM

I'm running a (half) marathon for the first time. I hated running four weeks ago, but now it is growing on me.

Naturally, I am blogging about it.

Um...Anyone have any extra cash that they want to donate through my AIDS Marathon page?

kate / May 14, 2008 4:02 PM

Outdoor drinking.

Training for my first triathlon.

Biking. Which, for me, is year-round. So really, I should say "avoiding slow-ass safety cyclists." Glad to see everyone on their bikes, but remember to not ride like a jackass.

I used to play softball, but that involves having to be somewhere EVERY SATURDAY. I've got better stuff to do with my summer weekends.

Steven / May 14, 2008 4:54 PM

Tanning.

p / May 14, 2008 5:28 PM

training 4 triathlon. haven't started non-gym training yet. looking forward to biking along the lake and swimming @ olive park beach.

and it's "bags" just plain ol "bags." i don't know who's responsible for the baggo balogna but i blame ohio.

also the drinking outside business.

annie / May 15, 2008 9:25 AM

Kate -

I think those who are not safe on their bikes ARE the jackasses...

hoof arted / May 15, 2008 9:51 AM

Kate/Annie- Yeah, let's get into that conversation, as I'm sure it'll be productive...

Sarcasm aside:
Biking- year round
Softball- Mondays
Drinking- Daily
Dog Park- weekends (and yes, this should totally be considerred a sport)

eric / May 15, 2008 1:00 PM

Ultimate. Come out and play!

Yeah, it's time to dig the bike out of storage.

sky / May 15, 2008 5:24 PM

KICKBALL SEASON BABY!!!!!!

printdude / May 16, 2008 10:18 AM

I shoot golfs.
I sail whenever possible.
I consider BBQ'ing a sport, and currently am the champeen of my block.
I wiffle.
I bike.

jen / May 16, 2008 1:13 PM

no, let's not avoid it:
katie, what does "avoiding slow-ass safety cyclists" mean, exactly? little old ladies on bikes? is there a bike speed minimum i missed somewhere? shouldn't we all be safety cyclists?

so to answer the question - riding my bike. ;)
i may start playing kickball with a friend that started a little group, though i heard they got an open container warning in humboldt wednesday night. apparently you can't play kickball with a flask; who knew?

jen / May 16, 2008 1:13 PM

oh, and mini golf / putt putt.

CC / May 16, 2008 2:43 PM

I play on a men's softball team on Wednesday nights. Spring league usually starts in April, summer league in June and Fall league in August. Then beginning in June I also play on a coed beach volleyball team on Thursday nights. The rest of my time is rounded out by CARA marathon training on Saturday mornings and solo runs the rest of the week from June through October.

kate / May 16, 2008 4:23 PM

jen - it's kate, not katie.

I love safety. Helmets are boss! Seriously - I am all about being safe on my bike.

What I am not all about, however, is people who deck themselves out in neon, ride slow as fuck so everybody can see them, but don't take the time to make sure they can see everyone. I think it's wonderful that so many people are taking up bike ridin', however I ride my bike for work (FOR work, not TO work. my bike is my job) so I get to see all different kinds of bikers. The ones that consistently (and obliviously) break traffic laws and cut off fellow cyclists and motorists are without a doubt what I like to call "safety cyclists". Neon jackets and 40 lights do not a safe ride make. Looking around, signaling turns, not cutting people off... THESE are the things that matter more than high-visibility gear.

And before someone else gets huffy, I love neon and lights. Staying visible on the road is awesome. Safety is awesome. People who ride like jackasses are not. Jackasses in general are not awesome.

It's ok if you suck at bike riding and are trying to get better. Practice, but do it on a side street. Both you and your fellow cyclists will be safer.

Alright?

p / May 16, 2008 4:43 PM

katie,

why do u hate safety SO much though? please justify your hatred of pensivity. Also why do u hate neon and lights? R u a reckless bike messenger vampire? if so cool.

Suzanne / May 16, 2008 4:43 PM

Training for my 1st half marathon. Biking, but not the jackass way and swimming.

kate / May 16, 2008 5:04 PM

q - i luv brakin roolez. and faces.

p / May 16, 2008 5:13 PM

that's the stuff kate. Look. Out. Weekend. i'm genuinely pumped up by your badassness- thanks! fuck yeah.

steven / May 16, 2008 5:39 PM

Softball, softball, softball, though I'm not on a league yet. Huh. If they had outdoor bowling, I'd be all over that too. Plus tons of biking.
Is beer a sport? Cuz I'm doing that too.

JD / May 16, 2008 9:42 PM

Bozo Buckets and Whiffel Cricket.
Also, lets not forget "underground" Jarts.
