It looks fantastic, but waiting for version 2.0.
I am actually very interested but really don't have a need for anything like an iPad and I'm not sure who does. I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone and I use both extensively. What need does an iPad fill for someone like me other than the desire for a new toy. I just can't justify it although it looks pretty cool.
Like many other observers, I think this is the formal beginning for a new category of consumer device, but we have a long way to go yet. For those who can wait, in 2 years or so, there should be a nice range of devices in the $200 - $500 range.
We'd love an iPad! But much like the Games We'll Never Play, it's not in the cards for now.
Unless you're giving them away, in which case we'll take 3.
looks like i'm the only one who doesn't give a crap?
Personally, I don't see how it's going to improve my life any. I'd most likely just lose or break it within a week.
But that's just me. And sarah.
I'm still debating whether or not to get a pager ...
Seriously, I agree with Andrew. Let the pioneers deal with the bugs, and like Box Factory, wait for a need for the device before buying it. I got a cell phone simply because pay phones became rare to find in 2004. And I did get a pager when I was a Realtor and all the other Realtors had one; so to give quick response customers now expected, I got the thing.
similar products have been around for years, so the ipad ain't starting a damn thing.
i'm sure at some point some manufacturer will come out with a model that has features i want at a price i like. not to be cynical or anything, but the ipad just seems like a products conceived and designed to sell people larger fart apps.
Nope, don't care. I love Apple and all things shiny, but I have absolutely no use for it. And I can't afford it even if I wanted it.
No point in having an interest towards something I can't afford.
I'm not even sure what it's for even though I have a macbook and an ipod.
Fankly I think people who get all into these commercial products are just "cool" stupid fools
I'm going to wait til I retire.
At that point I won't be carrying a laptop wherever I go, and I'll have plenty of time to read, watch videos and surf the web while in the garden, couch, airplane etc.
That said, I predict it won't be long before there are apps that will be worth paying the $500 for.

I'm very interested in the iPad, but I'll have to hold off for a little while. If nothing else, I try not to purchase version 1.0 of new technologies. Let other people deal with the inevitable bugs.
