It's Election Day in Chicago--for schools. Chicago is fortunate to have a system that allows for democratic control of our schools. The Center Square Journal wants you to remember to get out and vote--but first, find out about the candidates.
Local school councils have the power to select principals and keep tabs on how school funds and other resources are used-a responsibility that has become even more important as Chicago Public Schools tackle a whooping $900 million deficit that makes the Chicago Transit Authority's doomsdays look like a cakewalk.
