What's In The Budget?

This post has been corrected. Special thanks to Mechanics reader Aaron for clearing this up.

Mayor Daley released his 2011 preliminary city budget earlier this week and it's been creating quite a stir but how many of us have actually read the document? Here's your chance! Below is the actual budget. Sift through it dear readers and tell us in the comments what sticks out to you.

Here's the budget overview and revenue estimates. It's a summary with highlights of the over all budget.

Here's the 567-page Budget Recommendations for 2011 which is proposed by both the mayor and City Council.

The budget the Mayor proposes in October is much more detailed and is made up of three primary documents: the Budget Overview and Revenue Estimates, the Program and Budget Summary, and the Budget Recommendations, all of which can be found at the following link

Substance, Not Style, the Source of Rahm's Woes

By Ramsin Canon / 2 Comments

It's not surprising that some of Mayor Emanuel's sympathizers and supporters are confusing people's substantive disputes with the mayor as the effect of poor marketing on his part. It's exactly this insular worldview that has gotten the mayor in hot... More...
