Public Meetings to be Held For North Lake Shore Drive Study
The Illinois Department of Transportation and the Chicago Department of Transportation have started a study to examine improvement of North Lake Shore Drive. The study will examine Lake Shore Drive from Grand Avenue to Hollywood Avenue. The first round of public meetings regarding the study will be held on August 6-8.
In addition to examining improvements to the road, the project will also look at bridges and methods of non-motorized travel along Lake Shore Drive, such as the Lakefront Trail.
Anyone who uses the northern stretch of Lake Shore Drive is encouraged to attend the meetings. The August 6 meeting will be held in Gill Park at 825 W. Sheridan Road on the third floor. The August 7 meeting will be held at Truman College, 1145 W. Wilson in the atrium. The August 8 meeting will be held in the south gallery of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. All of the meetings are from 6 - 8 p.m.

Thanks for sharing the public meeting dates. My organization, the Metropolitan Planning Council, joined with 15 other civic groups, including Friends of the Parks and Active Transportation Alliance, to put forth a civic platform for reconstruction of N. Lake Shore Drive. You can read that here:

The platform calls for a bold vision to better meet the needs of everyone who uses the lakefront. We encourage Chicagoans to attend upcoming public meetings and voice their ideas for a N. Lake Shore Drive that really serves their needs.
