The Museum at the Art Institute has some pretty iconic work in its collection. Obviously. Few are more iconic, though, than Grant Wood's application of oil on beaverboard, the 75 year history of which professor Steven Biel has captured in his just-published American Gothic: A Life of America's Most Famous Painting.
