During their visit to the White House last week, Northwestern's NCAA Champion Women's Lacrosse team appeared in a photograph with President Bush. Several of the athletes were wearing flip-flops, a gaffe that has since created a minor controversy. Yesterday, in an interview on NBC's Today show, their coach announced some of the now-infamous shoes would be auctioned to benefit a 10-year old New York girl who became one of the team's biggest supporters this year, despite having a brain tumor.
