Product designer Kenneth LeVey of Illinois Tool Works in Glenview wanted to reinvent the mechanics of the screw, but he kept hearing it couldn't be done. After all, the "threaded fastener" had hardly changed in millennia; why should now be any different? With a little determination, however, LeVey proved the naysayers wrong.
