The City Council today voted 43-6 to approve the Mayor's new Office of Compliance, the one that Inspector General David Hoffman says, "has the potential to undermine the effectiveness of the inspector general's office." In other news, 50th Ward Alderman Bernie Stone, who won his seat in a runoff, contends that Hoffman "is going all over different wards in this city issuing subpoenas to various people in this city" in an investigation of absentee ballots.
