The Chicago News Cooperative told its staff today that it will shut down at the end of next week. UPDATE: In Crain's, CNC Editor Jim O'Shea characterized it as a "suspension," saying that the organization was exploring possibilities including splitting into for- and non-profit units and partnering with the Sun-Times.
