The ACLU of Illinois and Lambda Legal filed a lawsuit against the state of Illinois and Cook County Clerk David Orr yesterday on behalf of 25 same-sex couples, claiming the state's civil union law violates the Illinois Constitution's guarantee of equal protection and due process.
