Critical Mass

This year's October Critical Mass falls on Halloween, so it should be even more spectacular than usual. (Past October rides: 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001.) Bring your bike and costume to Daley Plaza, Dearborn and Washington, around 5:30 p.m. Afterwards there will be a party at the Handlebar, 2311 W. North.

Last day of Demon Dogs

It's time to pay final respects at Demon Dogs, for 20 years an institution under the Fullerton El stop. It closes today as part of the CTA's Brown Line expansion.

Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players.

Boo! The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, that amazing family act consisting of dad Jason (keyboards), wife Tina (slide projector), and daughter Rachel (drums), will be playing a Halloween night show at The Old Town School of Folk Music at 7:30PM. The recital hall is excellent at the school, so expect a wonderful show full of songs about miscellaneous found slides.
