"Evidence" Opening Night
When it comes to the facts, where does truth end and fiction begin? Neo-Futurist Greg Allen uses the Patriot Act, Illinois death penalty clemency cases, and his own divorce proceedings to examine the truth behind facts in
"Evidence," opening tonight at The Neo-Futurarium, 5153 N. Ashland. Expect Allen's trademark thought-provoking absurdity in this dark comedy starring Tim Hanna, Emily Albright, and Tim Klein. "Evidence" runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays thru April 24, 8 pm, $12 ($8 with student ID). Order tickets
online or call 773-275-5255.
Scrabylon @ Columbia College
Scrabylon, a documentary film about the 2001 World Scrabble Chamionship, is screening at Columbia College tonight at 7:00, in between rounds of an actual Scrabble competition at the college's Hermann Conway Center (the competition begins at 3:30). Compared to the movies
Best In Show and
Spellbound, Scrabylon focuses on a number of players entering the 2001 competition. One is, of course, from Chicago, and apparently likes to psych out his opponents by drinking vinegar. Not sure how that works, but I guess you can see the film to find out. The film is free, and so is admission to the competition. Hermann Conaway Center: 1104 S Wabash, first floor. (312) 344-6733.
