Constru(ct)ing the Current: Theorizing Media in a New Millennium will explore why the media consider certain events historically significant, worthy of sustained coverage and commentary, while others generate little or no attention. What makes something qualify as a newsworthy event? All events are free and at International House, 1414 E. 59th St.
All-girl chess championship
Chicago plays home to the first annual
All-Girls National Chess Championship this weekend at the
Adler Planetarium. The tournament is open to all girls 6 to 18 years old. The tournament happens today and tomorrow, and is sponsored by the local chess group
