Free bowling @ Marigold Bowl
After over 60 years,
the Marigold Bowl is closing up at the end of the month. To celebrate the end of the bowling, they're offering free bowling tonight and tomorrow night. Elizabeth Hatmaker at Myopic Books
Tonight’s Myopic Reading Series features Elizabeth Hatmaker. Hatmaker’s work has appeared in “Epoch,” “ACM,” “Birddog,” and “The Mississippi Review.” She currently teaches at Illinois State University, and is working on a set of “crime lyrics” which combine poetry and true-crime writing. The reading begins at 7 p.m. at
Myopic Books, located at 1564 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park.
Chicago Photography Center Gallery Opening
The Chicago Photography Center, is having a gallery opening and reception on Sunday, May 16th, from noon to 4pm. The Chicago Photography Center is a great not-for-profit organization whose mission is to teach photographers to have a stronger impact and greater influence on the community-at-large. Their new facility houses darkrooms, a gallery, a lighting studio and classroom space. They offer weekday evening classes and
single-session workshops on evenings and Saturdays. The Center is located at 3301 N. Lincoln, at the intersection of School/Lincoln/Marshfield, just North of Belmont. The reception is free to the public and will include food and beverages donated by local businesses.
