Local & Luscious December Delights
Lula Cafe and the CSA Learning Center, a nonprofit organization helping to create sustainable communities, welcome everyone to take part in Local & Luscious December Delights. The gathering is an inventive dinner which features a seasonal, three-course meal prepared with ingredients from Angelic Organics and other local farms. Lady Sovereign @ Empty Bottle
First lady of grime Lady Sovereign makes her first-ever live appearance in Chicago at the Empty Bottle following up her much talked-about DJ set at Sonotheque in July. Recently signed to Def Jam by Jay-Z himself, this will probably be the last chance to check her out in a venue the size of Empty Bottle. Ghislain Porier opens and local DJs Chris Widman and Johnny Love play throughout the night. The Empty Bottle is located at 1035 N Western.
Letters to Santa @ Second City
The fourth-annual Letters to Santa 24-hour improv marathon starts tonight at 10:30 at the Second City e.t.c. Theatre, 1608 North Wells in Piper’s Alley. $10 grants you admission to the entire 24 hours of improv, though you can come and go as you please. There will be special performances throughout the day including Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Jason Molina of Magnolia Electric Co, and Robbie Fulks. All proceeds go toward providing Christmas presents for needy children, so go have some fun and do some good. More details at the Second City website.
