The Chicago Force women's football team is holding tryouts today at Lane Tech High School from 9am to noon. There is a $20 tryout fee, you need to bring a photo id and wear cleats and comfortable outdoor attire. More info is available on their website.
In honor of Chicago Artists Month, artist Anthony Lewellen will be opening his garage studio at 5006 N. Keeler to the public from 1 to 5pm today and tomorrow. Come check out new works, and purchase them from the man himself. Also, a special edition screen print will be run, signed and given away to visitors, an exclusive to this open studio.

Thrill Jockey artists continue to play heavily at the Empty Bottle tonight with Chicago's own Califone headlining and newcomer Angela Desveaux playing second on the bill. Califone will sure to be a head-bobber with their innovative experimental stylings, and bringing you some tracks from their brand-new LP Roots and Crowns. Angela will bring a cool Canadian alt-country to the mic with her new album in tow Wandering Eyes and British trio Peter and the Wolf will start out the night with some acoustic pop to get you in the mood. Music starts at 10pm, and tickets are $10 advance ($12 day of show).

The annual State Street Halloween Parade kicks off today at noon at the corner of State and Randolph. The parade is a chance for kids to wear their best costumes and parade down State Street.
